Shouldn't really matter. All of my Toyota friends have always cherished how Toyota takes car of them, so instead of missing out on the FT-86 entirely, at least go for the FR-S. Totally worth it despite how Subaru treats their BRZ customers.

Plus the FB engine has seemed to be going well. It's the FA that's in question because of the direct-injection. It'll be a while before we see an FA used casually along the line-up. I would love for the Impreza to have a sporty model with the FA20, but who knows if that'll ever happen. If it did, though, I'm sure it would draw in more researchers. |

I love the cars, but Subaru's warranty service straight up sucks ass. Toyota actually gives a damn, it seems. It's not so much an issue with my 2011 Outback because it's a a pretty reliable car. My BRZ has been pretty reliable so far, and only took it in for the crickets, which they "fixed" (replaced parts, problem came back). But now I'm having difficult 4th gear shifts and a rough idle, and I only have 4000 miles on the car. Everything in me was telling me to wait for the 2nd model year, and I figured I'd be safe with a late year manufacture. Guess I was wrong. If I have more serious issues I'm going to lemon law the car in a heartbeat and get the next year model. I have parts I'm not putting on right now because I'm waiting to see what pops up, and I regret installing the taillights already because I'm half expecting to have to remove them. Overall, in the big scheme of things, they're not HUGE issues. It's just the tons of little things and problems other people are having that is scaring me. |

Lots of owners are expressing the same frustration over the "tons of little things." I would not want to be the OEM engineer-manager who decided to take these little things for granted, or the OEM "big numbers" guy who figured it wouldn't affect the profit margin in the long run. |

Repost from another thread
The bosses @ CSG are getting to the point where they've decided the downtime is not worth the battle if it drags on much longer. We've been doing some R&D via friend/client cars, but we can't exactly do what we want to do with a car that is not owned by the shop. Nor do I want to take ANY risk of wrecking at the track with their cars... Subaru has not acknowledged any factory errors or defects. In fact, they've, thus far, refused to even look further into the issue, at least, according to what they're telling us. |

CSG Mike, it does seem incredibly frustrating. Is it possible that Subaru found out this car is associated with CSG and, even though the car is stock, they are denying based on the car being tracked and associated with an aftermarket performance company that could be using the car as a test mule for parts? I am not saying they are right or wrong or pass judgement but it would explain their position a little better.

I might bring my car in and complain about the symptoms you listed (popping sounds when starting, some fluctuating idle etc and my car hasn't seen track yet) so just Subaru gets more data on this. I also need to bug them about another HPFP and a new pass-side window switch.[/QUOTE]
My passenger side window switch sucks too, the auto function is so inconsistent. |

We told them, literally, to tear our car apart, and show us how WE caused the damage. Cuz, you know, we obviously melted our cats with a blow torch before having our vehicle towed to the dealer. |
