Beautiful engine bays, fellas
![]() Forgive the slew of questions that follow - Ever since we ordered our FR-S, I've loved the elegance and OEM qualities of the AVO kit. In particular, I prefer keeping the pressurized exhaust short to minimize exhaust energy loss (and heat exposure to other components in the engine bay!)... The "sleeper" engine bay and access to routine maintenance items (belts, etc) on the front of the engine is also a plus in my book. Have you guys melted anything? Are there any common maintenance items that are suddenly considerably harder to remove? What made you guys choose the D3PE and FB kits instead? Peak power goals? Based on what I've seen with turbo headers on other cars, longer tube headers (like yours) will out-power relative shorties (like AVO's), with the gap widening as you crank up the boost.

As for the header, mine is stock. My power goals were set high too, running about 350whp now on 93/meth, and D3 will be able to provide me with 450whp when I take it back to them in a few months and run E-85 through it. Of course I'll have to upgrade the fuel pump and injectors, but that's about it. Oil cooler is in store too.

I found the d3 turbo kit thread, but no pictures of the exhaust. Do you have any to share? Your FMIC certainly fills the front bumper better than most kits.

Not much on exhaust. There's just an exhaust pipe going from the header to the catback. And my catback is aftermarket, non D3. I love my FMIC.

Do you plan on getting a aftermarket header in the future?
