I guess I was hoping for something closer to 2700 instead of 2800. We aren't too far off, only 50 lbs or so.
Curb weights are regional. Eg. US is all fluids and 90% of a tank of fuel. Germany adds a passenger and luggage. I believe Japan's curb weights calculate with 1/2 a tank of fuel.

I guessed 2866lbs/1300kgs and only the fully loaded automatic is going to break 2800 so at least I'm not disappointed.

BTW, Drifting isn't racing, Drift Racing is.

+1

If it's out of my price range, I'd like to buy another car in the short term rather than having to wait until April/May.

Actually, First 86 is a crafty and sneaky marketing scheme. They intentionally don't release a price and use that list to gauge how many people are seriously ready to buy. The more people there are who sign up, the more Scion can afford to hike up the price without turning off potential buyers. Nobody should sign up unless they are seriously aching to buy right now. It's for the good of our community that we drive prices down by not signing up.

I think I'll sign up and if I win just sell the car with a huge markup to someone who just can't wait for it.

Sounds like a solid marketing plan. If they only get 1000 or so people sign up on the list they know that not everyone is sold on the car yet.

I haven't seen many people on here saying they have actual deposits down yet.

I clicked on the Detroit live link and it was titled Hyundai Press Conference, but the video was of an Orange Transvestite Woman staring into space and some old white man typing on an iPad vigorously. They were newscasters of sorts...

That's it. For like 20 minutes.

Edit: Now they stood up and are taking pictures with some even older gentleman...

IF this is true and the 2,689lb estimate is with an empty gas tank, then 2,762 est. for the U.S. BRZ is dead on the numbers:

1 U.S. gallon of gasoline = 6.15 lbs.

AS1 Fuel Capacity = 13.2 U.S. gallons

90% fuel capacity = 73.06 lbs

2,762 - 73.06 = 2,688.94 lbs.
