@Frstorm

You make a good point, it's just that I've noticed that most dealers are charging around $26,700 (OTD) . The highest price I saw was $27,790.15 (OTD)

If you don't mind me asking, what was your out the door price (excluding down payments and trade-in)?

Yeah I'm sure region does matter. The dealer did say every year Scion edits the dealer to ensure the PURE pricing.

If you deal using the "true car" pricing, then you are getting ripped off. TrueCar was created by the dealerships as a way to mitigate negotiations. If dealerships are selling for more than invoice than there is a better deal somewhere else (limited runs excluded).

This is why I do like buying in MD. Its illegal for a dealer to charge more than $200 for dealer fees. $699 is a stupid amount of money for filing the paperwork you pay to have filed(paid separately).

I ran into crap like that at multiple Subaru dealerships, and people not wanting to let you test drive, and frankly it's the reason I went scion. Found a dealer that would give me a drive with no bullshit and no idiotic money grab fees. They practically stole my trade in tough, so whatever.

Moral of the story is, vote with your wallet. Of the dealer won't play ball with you then try somewhere else, op.

The Subie dealer I talked to marked their BRZ up $5,000. It was the only one on the lot, and the only one they had in the previous few months. That's why I went Scion.

In Connecticut, the state sets the document fees they can charge and they ALL charge them. Because they can.

They cannot charge you for VIN etching even if it's already etched if you tell them you don't want it. But if you don't say anything, it will be there on your contract. You really have to know what they can and can't do according to the laws in your state and always read the fine print. Most contracts are designed to be confusing to the buyer so take your time and check every line item.

I found it alittle funny about he dealer sticker. I had asked my salesman not to have it put on he agreed but somehow it was put on there. When I went to go look at the car, arrived Saturday night and dealer is closed on Sunday, noticed it was on there so Monday morning when salesman called to inform me my baby was there I asked him if they could take it off and it was off when I went to pick it up. Why do dealers always put that ugly sticker on it? Not to mention if you get a car off the lot sun damage to the rest of the paint will just make that sticker spot annoy me since in so OCD about everything.

Exactly I didn't get to test drive my BRZ.

Toyota dealers around here are like that too now. I guess too many people come in, take it for a joyride, then never come back. I haven't had a chance to test ride one yet, but my deposit will be going down for one either way. It's the same when you buy a new motorcycle, so the process is nothing new.

I've never been refused a test drive in anything I was interested in including Corvettes, Shelbys and even a Dodge Viper (when they were called that). My wife and I spent almost two hours test driving 50+ miles in a 370Z and without a salesman aboard because it was a two-seater. It was the test drive that convinced me to buy my FR-S. Without it, I wouldn't have even considered purchasing.

Bottom line for me - no test drive = no purchase.

Toyota of Orlando currently has 20+ sitting on the lot since they are way overpriced for the area.
Have to agree with you on Toyota of Orlando. When I was looking, back in December, I called tham and asked if they had any manuals to test drive, they said they had 6. When I get there they only have 2 ATs, and then they told me that I couldn't test drive either because they had reached their test drive mileage limit. They said I could buy the car though, then I could drive it. ????? So I left. I ended up doing much better by hopping on the internet and searching the whole country on cars.com for a base model FRS I wanted. Ended up purchsing from Kasper Toyota...in Ohio. No dealer fees, no BS add ons. Did have to pay 500 to ship it down here, but still ended up saving almost 2000 on what the Orlando dealerships wanted due to their crap dealer fees and installed options (which are ALL a rip off).
