If you haven't yet talked to Clint... Do it.

He's not just less than KBB "Fair Price". He's about two thousand less than "Fair Price" (at least what KBB says is "Fair Price" -- and I think Clint's already skewing that average down as it is, because no dealer around DFW nor most places based on what I see here will give you anywhere near that "fair price")

I haven't yet taken delivery of mine from him yet (due in about 3 weeks) but, barring some surprise fees (and based on others experience, I expect nothing of the sort) Clint's price, even after paying all the fees AND taxes, still puts the car several hundred less than the local guys even want to start at.

Even if you opted to get the car shipped to you, you're still right at MSRP after all is said and done. You'd still end up about $2500 more buying local after fees and TTL.

If the BRZ was out 5 years ago when I was living in Colorado, I would have bought from you, Clint!

As of today, though, I managed to get a local dealer around me to come down on a Limited BRZ. Got mine for $28,526 OTD. I take delivery on Tuesday All it took was two emails to get that price on mine. I'm quite happy about that!

Shame you didn't buy earlier in the year, back in Feb/March there were tons of them around. The dealer where I got mine had 8.

Very true my friend!

If I cannot find a BRZ by the end of Sepetember that is cheaper than Clint's, I will definitely purchase mine from him.

Wow! Have not heard of any dealership that sells the BRZ for $28,526 OUT THE DOOR.

2 questions:
1) How much was it before taxes, licensing, and paperwork?

2) Which dealership is this and who did you email/speak to?

Price was $27,174 pre-tax, add in taxes, licensing, etc. and you got the OTD price. This was from Herb Gordon Subaru in Silver Spring, MD (just a few miles north of Washington DC). I worked with Jason Withrow. He's been excellent to work with--totally no nonsense and a straight with me. I should be taking delivery tomorrow (I put a deposit down this weekend) once my credit union cuts my financing check.

California taxes are much more. Your OTD costs are most likely to be more than just about any other state.

$28,526 OTD in MD

$27,174 + $2722 in fees and tax, OTD of $29896 in ZIP 91745.

Your fees/taxes varies based on where you register the car. FYI.

Wow, that's a much bigger difference in price! Taxes and fees in CA must be astronomical.

Some cities (El Monte CA, for example) have much higher tax rates versus the rest of the county.

I didn't want to deal with crossing state lines and any potential differences in regulations etc. I'm in California where these cars sell sometimes even before they are listed in inventory so I was happy to pay just MSRP.

I got mine as a preorder from Capitol Subaru - no break on price except a small discount on the maintenance plan - so MSRP. But so far I've had a great experience with them.

Capitol Subaru was one of the few dealers who would do MSRP even on a pre-order in my area. Off the lot- I'm sure there is a mark-up.

(Edit: Ok this thread claims they aren't marking up off-the lot sales http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42914 )

Yeah, I mean, why save 2-3k buying out of state when you can get bent over by your local dealer? And to think I thought I was bad with money...

Do you think you just got the price because they were trying to get rid of the 2013's or did you negotiate down the price? I'm looking at getting a Premium WRB MT. None of their BRZs in stock look appealing to me.

There's a balance between saving money and saving hassle and time. For me, having one less thing to track and manage in my - at the time very high stress and busy life - was worth more than the 2-3K of "savings" :P

Also just to point out - Capitol Subaru was very reasonable, charging MSRP is hardly being "bent over" for a hot ticket item that can go for over MSRP easy, and they have excellent customer service.

I mean ordering mine was really quick - order, deposit, and out the door. Then we test drove it when it came a month or two later just to make sure- could have taken it home that night but they wanted to detail it and do some paper work so we came back two days later and took her home.

Money can be earned back but my time and effort can not.

If I waited- I bet deals were better on the 2013 now that it's closer to year end.

In any case - different people, different circumstances...not so long ago I'd probably have went with whatever saved $$ cus then I had plenty of spare time.
