we already know that the EJ and FA engines share a common mount setup. It makes sense to just take a built EJ25 and design a new manifold for it to make it work in this chassis for competition. No factory backed team in their right minds would campaign an untested new engine in a professional series when they have a proven option available. It's just not cost effective for development purposes, nor for parts replacement.

Loving the Subaru news, too bad Scion's news won't reflect us Aussies. Nonetheless, Thanks Hachi for the updates!

if the drift engine produces 600hp and it can mount directly to the stock tranny?

questions
1 are they still using stock tranny and diff?
2 if they are is the tranny beefed up for the application(which mean beefy aftermarket gearsets available soon )
3 can the stock torsen diff handle 600hp? (considering its sourced from the isf its completely possible
4 upgraded or stock driveshafts?

Agreed, I really hope it's below the dreaded $25k est. that has been floating around magazine publications

This is annoying. Im dissapointed in Toybaru for stringing this out for so long. How can they debut something with nothing new to show or report. By definition this is not a debut this is just a car at a car show.

ugh, can't believe I missed 21 pages of discussion. The First FR-S program seems cool and all but it's only for the US and there really isn't really anything special about it other than having the car first. It's nice to see that they used 86 as the number of winners though, shows how close this car is to the GT86 and not like the other Scion cars.

Don't worry; at least 3 pages was an off-topic argument about HID headlights

1. looks like it has a sequintial gear box
2. it is a brand new tranny.
3. it is the same diff used in the supra

How are they going to give 86 people the opportunity to buy something without telling them the price?
