Your engine not blowing up is whats happening.

Yeah. Its there so you don't over-rev and blow up your engine. Isn't that what is going on or am I missing something?

You can always try changing down to 2nd gear at 100mph let the clutch out and see how many rpm you can reach before disintegration.

They're basically rudely telling you that the rev limit is there for a reason. It keeps the engine from breaking. It's possible for a custom tune to raise the limit, but if it goes much higher, you'll have big problems. It'll probably take at least a tune and new springs to go to a higher rev limit consistently. Then maybe you'll need some water pump mods too.

No point in even getting close to the limiter in stock form since power falls off well before.

With the torque dip you have to keep the car above 5k. If you shift at max power ~7k then you are only working with a 2krpm band. The gears aren't short enough. I and many others think the way to drive this car is to keep it over 5k and "bounce" the rev limiter or ideally just before it obviously. Maybe that's why my DI seals are shot but the car has a 7400rpm rev limit to be used, just because power is dropping after 7k doesn't mean you don't rev past there. Just my opinion.

It doesn't matter if it makes less power after 7k rpm, when you factor in the torque multiplication from the gear you're in it will ALWAYS put more power to the wheels at 7400 (or even 8500) rpm than it will in the next gear after you shift.
