I'd love to hit S ID, but I have to be back home tomorrow. Plants are taking a beating without water for a week.

Have to save it for another time.

Left Kalispell west on Hwy 2. Was nice, mostly 60s and 70s all the way to Sand Point.
Turned south on 95 from ther to Bonners Ferry.
From there south to Cour d'Alene was endless construction and traffic.



From Cd'A I took 97 around the east side of the lake.
Wonderful winding road along the lakeside, then up over hills to other bays along the way.





The south end of 97 joins up with 3.
Another great road with tight, banked corners you can carry some speed in.
Then onto 5 west to Plummer. Very similar to 3. Whee!
Didn't get any pictures along there because racecar.

When I got to Plummer at about 2:00 I could see a plume of forest fire smoke to the NW.
I had been planning on turning north to Worley, but it looked like the smoke was coming from there.
I took a rural road directly west to Fairfield then 27 north to Spokane.

Back in the Palouse again. A shot back east to the fire.

Not much in the way of roads today. Mostly getting from here to there.
I'll just put up some pictures of stuff along the way.

2 west out of Spokane then northwest on 21.
Miles and miles of miles and miles.



21 goes to Grand Coulie Dam.



South of there is Banks Reservoir with Steamboat Rock out in the middle.



South end of Banks Reservoir and the huge gouge out of the lava caused by the failure of an ice dam
forming Lake Missoula in the ice ages. Happened several times. Look it up.



South of that is Dry Falls.



After that was just getting home again.
Stopped in Wenatchee for another cherry shake at Dustys.
Blewett Pass, Snoqualmie and now I'm running the sprinkler under the cherry tree.

Saw the fire starting at the base of Mt. Si coming through North Bend.
Watching it on the news now.

Hot. Hot. Some more hot. Then a little hotter. Still hot.
