VIR (Full Course) - Aug 26 & 27 via Track Daze

Anyone registered? Is just the one day worth it? I've never ran with Track Daze before...any feedback?

Do they have an intermediate/advanced group where you can bypass an instructor?

I wish I had vacation to burn, I'd be there in a heart beat. My next VIR outing will be with THSCC Sept 7-8.

Yes, they have Novice (Green), Intermediate- (Blue), Intermediate+ (Yellow), Advanced (Black), and Instructor (Red) run groups. The main differences are where you are allowed to pass (by point by for everyone but Red I think) and instructors. Green will have a mandatory instructor, at least to start. You can be solo'd if your instructor deems you safe/ready. Other groups can probably get an instructor if desired, but not guaranteed.

As for how they operate, they tend to run things very smoothly and keep to their time schedule pretty well. There are 2 classroom sessions each day that are mandatory.

I'll be at this event and I'm kind of looking for people to split a hotel room with. I usually camp out in a tent at these events, but I'm thinking its going to be quite warm in southern Virginia in the middle of august. I figure if I can get it down to around 30-50$ for a night it would be worth while.

Registed car #349, I'll be running with the advanced group
@v1ru5 is registered too
@xjohnx if you're not coming, let me borrow your E85 jugs, I plan to fill up a ton in Richmond. I've got my trailer hitch coming next week so I'll have a tiny trailer with room for E85 galore!

both days, I figured given the distance and the rationale to get a trailer it made since. I'll probably rent a Uhaul 4x7 utility trailer if I can build one of these in time:

I hear ya. You might consider the THSCC event at VIR-F on Sept 7-8. I know at least one BRZ will be there (Blue Group).

i'm on the fence about which group i would want to go in, green or blue. I've done a good number of HPDE's in HPDE 2 for NASA and cut loose solo, however it's been about 5 years. I feel like i'll probably pick everything up again pretty quickly and will probably register for hpde2/blue depending on the org.

I just hope my next instructor has a stronger stomach than my last. I had to pit off in the back straight of VIR for him to exit the vehicle and puke (driving a stage 2 04 STi at the time with muffler delete.)
