LOL ... mechanically, I'm trying to decide if it matters ...
I mean, obviously the helper springs will give long before the main springs due to their inherent lesser tensile strength ... The only thing I can think top or bottom would matter would be the positioning within the greater element - such as - does the helper spring at the top provide a further, broader foundation for the main springs to exert their force against, thus providing a stronger response against the main spring and providing a stronger base at the top strut mount ... To me I would think that helper springs at the top makes the most sense ... but I am a complete newb with an overcompensating love of physics that directs me to this belief! Thus I look to the community to guide as I am installing the Tarmac 2's in less than 24 hours ... |

It doesn't really matter.

I have a question about the Tarmac Zeros. Your first post says the spring rates are 225/280 front/rear. Your website as well as another that I found advertises 280/280. If I order these, which spring rates would I get?

Those are the options you have when ordering them. You can either get them with 215F/280R, or 280 all around. Additionally, you can get 350 rate springs all around for an additional charge.
When you order you can specify which you want. Hope that helps.

The default option is 280/280 now.

Just an update - a month in and about 500 miles, and the coils still rock. No clunks, noises, or anything goofy. So happy!

Anybody with 280/350 rates? Opinion on this set-up?
Also, are these valved any different from the recently released ST coilovers? |

I'm not 100% on the valving of the ST coilovers but I imagine it's a good bit softer than ours. - Andy |
