I have a raven FRS and went with the OEM mud guards.. $50 online.. They look stealth with the black paint.. Not sure how they would look with other colors...

The car I'm buying has OEM mud flaps as well. They'll be for sale when I get home (in late November) if you're not in a hurry and want some used ones.

You live in the "Sticks", a wooded area that is far from the city.

You cross the river "Styx" to go to Hades, the underworld. You must have a coin to pay Charon the boatman to be ferried across it.

You cannot live in the "Styx".

And you are so close to the Ivy league schools yet so far from the Styx.

Check again, that is British usage, like colour, flavour, advertise.... etc... (also, for some strange reason, Canadian usage).

And Midwestern. English wasn't my major though but I think I'm right in at least half of the English speaking world

You have evidence that it is Midwestern usage? Is it the Lynyrd Skynyrd effect?

@regal it's funny you mention playing on dirt/gravel roads because we're about to announce a new t-shirt (and poster?) featuring that very thing. I'll see if I can post a teaser...

I'm from the sticks, and my Rallyarmor flaps have performed flawlessly when I go back home. Limestone rock roads, pea gravel, etc. Don't stick out much, either, pretty inconspicuous. Asphalt w/black guards, blue lettering.

lol at urbandictionary being used as a source

Sticks. It's actually an American phrase in origin, "out in the sticks," and the Styx etymology is incorrect.
