I wanted something that would utilize the stock rolled fenders; the best Prodrive offers to get that fitment is 18x8 +43 which is only about halfway between stock and flush (they are fitted with spacers in those pics I posted). I didn't want to settle for halfway. The XXRs come up right behind the roll without chance of rubbing. From a style and fitment standpoint, XXR was my #1 choice among all available gold wheels by far. Weight is relatively light for cast wheels (about the same as stock despite being bigger/wider, lighter than costlier Rays Gramlights and OZ Formula HLT, and likely the same weight STI 18" wheels). Safety/reliability checked out to be perfect from my research with the same JWL/VIA certifications as OEM but no TUV (which STI also doesn't have) and no widespread issues from hundreds of XXR 527 owners through the years. The low price just sweetened everything.

The only faults I can think of are they're not as "exclusive" and the paint can sparingly have minor defects upclose which I gladly overlook.
Well shoot, my whole argument doesn't even matter since I thought the Prodrives WERE your strong FIRST choice. Had I known they weren't even first or strong I wouldn't have even bothered since everything you said makes perfect sense. hahaha

There was a time the Prodrive GC-07Js were my strong 1st choice. But that was before XXR came into the picture because, at the time, I dismissed XXRs as cheap and unreliable wheels. Til I proved myself wrong on the latter.

In the GC-07J's defense, their flattened spoke design uses less material than if it were concave. Makes for a lighter weight design compared to previous generation GC-07 or PFF7 Prodrives. They more strictly follow Function>Form. Prodrive has always had a good relationship with Subaru. They even tuned the WRX and STI with a Prodrive performance package at no extra charge in the UK. The GC-07J are discontinued; I'm waiting for Prodrive to release new wheels specifically for the BRZ like WedsSport, Enkei, and Rays have been doing.

Yes! I've been waiting to get a set of GT1's! I was excited when I saw the UK BRZ getting GT1 wheels.

I hope Prodrive gets something together by next summer.

This is the first time I'm seeing that. I'll wait for STI to release a grille (if ever) and will watch out for how you build yours out. :happy0180:

@switchlanez figured I'd mention it since there's been a few people who've lowered their cars and have had stones fly thru to their A/C condensers. I know I know "oem is king", but it's a good safeguard for the intermin.

Yes, I think it will. From the XXR 527 wheel thread:

No prob, and yep, that one is definitely lowered. I'm waiting for the owner's reply on his suspension specs in that XXR wheel thread I linked in my last post.
