I dont understand why its the innovate guys that seemed to be the most concerned about blowing an engine compared to the turbo/vortech guys but are the most resistant to not want to upgrade the fuel system. Nick lemme know i have pump and injectors instock.
Pm'd.

I would like to not upgrade injectors + pump atm. I'm not looking for crazy power. But I have a reliable E85 station 1 mile away from my home. So it would seem like a viable option. i've also had lots of boosted cars (wrx's STi's) and I know how subaru engines are. Not trying to go for insane HP numbers until the engine is completly built... Then i'll get a smaller pully + intercooler + bigger injectors + fuel pump and go for real numbers. (our current 02 WRX wagon is at 400WHP 400TQ on 19lbs of boost.... fully built) + I DD this car.

Do you think stock pump + injectors would be okay with corn around the 250WHP numbers? @robispec
(I doubt my car would make more then 250 on corn)

According to @moto-mike - yes. but i would like to hear @FA20Club.com 's input on this as well. if this is the case i wonder if the fuel package on his special can be modified to ditch the 525's and FP for some 700's and maybe a price adjustment if appropriate.

youll get farther with a pump upgrade than injectors. none of our kits so far are running over 40% total flow of ports. even our 60 trim 430whp car is only using 35% of the 850cc @ that power level. our normal 550cc tunes only use 35% port. but none of that is possible without a pump upgrade. without the pump upgrade youll start to drop pressure eventually to the DI pump. nthe innovate has one thing that helps you guys out which is: it doesnt move allot of air so fuel isnt as critical as with a vortech or turbo. but you never want to drop flow to the motor. so between the two i would opt for the pump before injectors.

I thought someone earlier was seeing high PI duty cycles and was able to smooth out the top end and gain a little with larger injectors on the stock pump.

you can change how much of the total ratio is used from DI vs port. so that varies but both need supply. if you have larger injectors you will empty the rail faster without flow from the intank supply. i can lower port duty cycle by using more of the DI system but the DI system will require more supply so it doesnt drop pressure in the system. hope that makes more sense to you guys. this isnt a std fuel system so normal theory isnt solid here. i have learned from my experience tuning these kits as well as other with different size injectors and pumps.

robi isn't running larger injectors.
Using DI will have much larger benefit with E85 than with port so a larger pump will do, proven fact but yeah, injectors make money!
Running too large injectors and only use 35% is no where near the designed atomisation. It will run and be better controlled with the right size, known fact also. Bigger isn't always better with injectors.

Edit:6 hrs late..

So the injector results vs pump results are dependant on how much the tuner uses the DI system?

That makes me wonder about something else.. I wonder if the people having DI seal issues are running really low DI duty cycles at WOT. The fuel could be cooling the injectors, and a low dc might be letting the injectors overheat and weaken the seals. Dunno, just a sudden thought..

But back OT: So it seems to me, that there's a noticeable divide between the tuning philosophies out there. If some are getting results on just injectors and some with just a pump, it seems some tuners perfer to use the PI system instead of the DI system.

I see long threads of heated discussion in the near future...
