Scion 10 series parts
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, I have done research and couldn't find anything on the topic.
My question is this, I know pretty much, the brz limited, brz premium, frs and now the 10 series frs (along with the toyota gt86) are all the same vehicle with cosmetic difference. There are parts all over the place which are universal for all the vehicles. Now, I was going to save up and get the headlights, but personally, just to look better, they are a total rip off, but I am still interested in getting the dashboard piece (like there is in the brz limited and 10series frs), the part that controls all the AC/Heather, air etc... I am just wondering if anyone made the conversion yet, and if so, if is was straight up plug and play, some minor mods, or was is necessary to kind of gut half the thing out and rebuild from scratch so to speak? anyone do this yet? Thank You |

you need to own a 10 series to be able to order the parts for a 10 series...

I understand that., I'm more curious if the parts will fit right of the box or if I need to make custom fits to my current original FR-S if I were get them somehow.

It is my understanding that you can't just replace the base HVAC with the nice digital 2-zone HVAC. There is a separate wiring harness that goes with a number of the higher trim level features, including the digital HVAC, the push-button start, and the keyless entry. It is all or nothing, so you would have to do the push-button start and keyless entry, and all parts associated with them (like the different door handles for the keyless) for it to work.
I don't know of anybody having done it yet, because the parts cost alone would be prohibitively expensive, and you would have to take apart quite a bit of the car. |

The more and more I think about it, the more I think it would have been most economical to get a 10 series and just paint it red later on.

...after figuring on whatever the cost and the downtime of a decent paint job is worth, I think the benefits of modding what you have outweigh the downsides. With enough BRZ Limited and Scion "10 Series" FR-S cars getting totaled and/or being turned into track only purpose build race cars these parts will become cheaply available. No Doubt, fearless souls will brave this HVAC/keyless ignition swap.

I heard you could order the led headlights through the dealership, but I don't have any proof or anything.

There has been people on here who at least were able to get a price quote from the dealership parts department for the headlights. Buying it, that's a different problem.

I have the part numbers and prices for the 10-Series LED/HID lamp assemblies. What's the worst that can happen?
