Burning smell is normal on the twins. It comes from the leftover sealants from assembly drip onto the very close exhaust manifold due to the arrangement of the low/tight engine space. Smell goes away. Sometimes leaves and small debris can get under shield too and cause a smell. Nothing wrong.

I am super excited though that Canadians are starting to get theirs, means mine is only a matter of time

Thanks torqdork - comments much appreciated.
My new raven had a burning smell.

My former nsx had a burning smell since I only kept it from 2600 till 4k miles (stupid move, 3 year garage queen)

My wife's new mdx had a burning smell.

Even our new oven had a burning smell lol

Let the heat increase the speed of entropy, give the residual residue enough time to jiggle till they let go and leave the premises. They need time to depart thats all lol

Extended warranties can be very helpful, but not when they over charge you or try to sneak it in.

I paid $1000 for 7 years / 100,000 miles bumper to bumper. That beats the included 3/36 hands down.

It isn't about Toyota being reliable, but things will break and fail eventually.

A starter or alternator alone is $400-650++. Let alone if something more expensive fails.

You could see him squirming to tell me that "Toyota cars are the best in the world" but "You should get the extended warranty". He then Googled JD Power & Associates and tried to show me how well Toyota does in these rankings. Sure enough, #1 was Lexus, #2 was (surprisingly) Lincoln (??), and #3 was Toyota. Then there was a bunch of manufacturers lower down, the "industry average", and then a bunch of cars after that. Near the bottom, was SCION. I burst out laughing and pointed it out to the guy and told him he probably shouldn't show that to customers as some sort of selling tool. So after all of this, I got the agreement and was about to sign when I noticed he had tacked on the $2400 extended warranty - the one I SPECIFICALLY declined. If I hadn't read through the fine print carefully I would have walked out of there minus $2400 for something I didn't want! Then when he reprinted the agreement I saw he made some math errors so had to reprint AGAIN. I found it ironic that he had his trainee with him who probably thought that she could easily replace this guy haha. Word of warning - watch out what they tack onto your price!

Ill86 I got that same warranty for 488 dollars by moving my first payment up 2 weeks. We negotiated this one hard, and ave me this price because he got a bonus if he sold so many in the month, FYI Toyota values this at a cost of 500 to them according to their book of guidelines.

Exactly. These warranties are very much negotiable. Because of this I saved an additional $500 on doc fees, delivery, etc. They get kickbacks for it and can move discounts around.

I've been flirting with trading my Raven on a Series 10. We'll see next week how things go. I'll report back if purchased with #.

Also, the Toyota Extended Warranty, the only one to consider given the track record of aftermarket providers, can be added anytime during the first year of ownership (last I knew) and may be purchased from any franchised Toyota/Scion dealer. There's serious online competition for your business, maybe even on this forum, so search around and either buy online or use the quote for leverage with your F&I wonk.
