Those are some dope wheels. If only they looked that good on the asphalt color.

Friends don't let friends roll on Rotas. Or at least that's what a shirt I bought at ForumFest2013 says. I have Neuspeed forged only because a guy was selling them for cheap and used, otherwise I'd be getting a set of Enkei just like most everyone or a set of Rotas or Drags.

Bottom line is that styles always recycle itself out and with the prevalence of so many wheel styles out there, its easier to label a brand as a copy... Case and point, do some research and look at some of the old Rays wheel line up and you will see "copies" of BBS, Lorinser, and other european brands. But in those cases, Rays put their own touches on a general design to make it their own.. Sure, it looks very similar to another but to label them as copy would just be somewhat callous... So, just because you think it looks like something doesnt mean its a copy...
Oh please. The DY-12C is an obvious copy of the SSR Type F. You even copied it down to the little groves on the spokes near the BCD. All you did was change the colorway to not get in trouble.

Ref 1: DY-12C full

Ref 2: DY-12C grooves

vs

Ref 1: SSR full

Ref 2: SSR grooves

Don't forget your D-5C that looks remarkably close to the Work Meister S1R.

You were also pretty close to copying the WRD Chevlon and Racing Hart Type C (DY-37C) too, but it seems like someone's guilty conscience started tugging. Walkin' the fine line there, guys.

Now, I'm not singling you out as being the only company guilty of copying. I will call out and raise hell to everyone who copies, regardless if it's Rays or Rota. You just happen to have a forum account that I can confront about the issue directly.

I can't wait to read the same old tiring excuse that everyone copies so therefore it's okay to do it! Oh and something about only so many ways to make a wheel and something else about referencing new and old designs and calling it a "new or modern interpretation."

For me personally, it's gotta be original or "real" wheels. When I buy original stuff I'm not trying to be pompous, it's just my personal preference to run original stuff. In fact, I try as best as possible to get anything in general original (not just wheels). I can understand price can be an issue for some to stray toward the knock-offs. After all, it's your own car and you can do however you like with it.

I think it's good to support the original manufacturer. Others have mentioned strength, better materials, building processes, etc. but they also forget to mention that supporting the original manufacturer helps to keep them in business making new, innovative stuff. Would the knock-off companies invest in newer designs or processes? I doubt it. Probably too much R&D cost vs. copying an existing design.

I'm going to bookmark this picture on my phone. When someone comments on and/or questions whatever wheels I choose, I'll just ask them politely to hold on a sec while it loads, and then show it to them.

I have a set of "real" Enkei 17x9 Et45 RPF1s. Wheel and tire combo is 5lbs lighter than stock. I can really notice the 20lb of unsprung weight they shaved off. Tires are Sumitomo HTR Z3s btw. They work great for DD and autoX, night and day difference from stockers. At 100 a piece, really can't beat it.

ETA: I found those wheels slightly used on ebay in their original boxes for 550, can't beat that either!

I wonder how the poll results would compare to the same poll with "wheels" changed to "boobs."

My head hurts, somebody answer this...

Are the stock wheels "real" or "fake"?

That would apply to wheels as well, nonetheless, there is a difference in poll answers.

Real wheels. Nothing against knockoffs but I knew I wanted to get the one wheel I always wanted so I saved up and bought CCW's.
