Really, when I drove one (just once, a friend's car) the chassis felt loose and the springs soft. Maybe that was just because I was driving a 528i as my DD at the time?

we don't have any nurburgring lap times of the 86 with good tires, do we? depending on what tires are on the cobalt, that could be a better comparo

It's not the fact that it's a Chevy, it's just that it is a grotesque excuse for a pile of shit on wheels. Anything can be "fast" or have a decent lap time. The only selling point this car has is the power. A civic with about as much worth of the car in mods will be just as fast as well, I'm by no means a civic SuperJDMtard. I'm just saying that cavalier is basically a cheap prostitute with lots of plastic surgery. Still not attractive.

are you implying that chevy is unable to make those mistakes? do you see the irony in saying that mismanagement ended all those cars and the cobalt dies because it was shitty and not mentioning the fact that the company was running itself into bankruptcy?

Do a tune, tires, and a few bolt-ons (exhaust and intake) and you're very competitive NA for a pretty cheap price.

Start throwing on some boost, and you're even or tearing apart the SS with equal modification.
i dont think that a tune, intake, exhaust, turbo, and tires is equal to stock. its not no matter how you look a it. its also a gigantic hypothetical slippery slope that isnt backed by any real world evidence.

What irony, Toyota didn't run itself into the ground, GM did and GM needs constantly supplies of money to keep going. Secret bailouts and such. Chevy is one giant turd in the automotive punch bowl.

the irony you are talking about. are you saying toyota was not smart enough to keep the supra relevant but somehow a bankrupt gm has nothing but the shittiness of the cobalt to blame for its demise?

or you could look at what car and driver found. at the same race track you quoted they pulled a 3:13 in the cobalt and a 3:18.6. its pretty obvious that fastest laps is inaccurate and out of date. it would seem that the data is for the supercharged cobalt which is a very different car and not even rated by that website for track performance.

People here hate it when others talk sht about their scions. But when the chevy cobalt gets to the chopping block everyone rushes for the ax.

The SS is one of the best fwd handling cars in the past 5 years. Does its interior make you want to throw up? Yes. With some mods will it take a v8 stang? Certainly. Does it have any place being compared to the twins? Maybe. To many, including myself, fwd is avoided but that doesnt mean you wont be seeing the taillights of a loud and flashy cavalier blow past you.

Haha...you'll never convince the fan boys that the Cobalt SS was/is a great little car for what it was...facts, owner reviews, track times and comparo's be damned!!! The SRT-4 has suffered the same fate...meanwhile my windows don't roll down when it's cold and my engine sounds like a lawn tractor...

Yep my SRT-4 is my weekend and drag car and I hear people hating on it all the time. Always hear the "Its just/Its still a neon".... Oh well, but when I walk people with my 400whp Neon they usually dont want to talk after

All this "X car is faster ON THE TRACK" bullshit it ridiculous. It all depends on the track folks... Clearly a tight lower speed course would favor the twins, and a winding open one would favor the cobalt...

To add to that whenever anyone says "Yeah, well it would be different if you change the tires, add an intake and blah blah blah" it makes you look like a 12 year old.
