You could check for a exhaust leak. In most cases IMO are exhaust parts not lined up correctly allowing bits of exhaust to blow by causing this sound.
I do suggest posting a video so the community can further assist you. |

You could add a resonator in there somewhere.
I put a header on my last 4-banger and it was too raspy for my liking. I added in a resonator on the midpipe and it helped out a bit (also killed some drone and made it a tad bit quieter) |

i thought about that. even got a quote from perrin for a resonated mid pipe. but as of right now, i really like the sound level. i think its perfect. only issue is the rasp.

I have two resonators on mine right now (catless resonated front pipe and resonated midpipe - both simple canister resonators). |

You need either a catted front pipe, or a resonated mid pipe. An exhaust leak won't cause rasp, and carbon build up won't stop it.

You could also try header wrap on the front pipe.

What would the header wrap do?

It helps to reduce and soak up vibrations that cause the raspiness. It helped eliminate rasp I got from my header instalation.

Rasp isn't from vibration.... and if the header wrap stops the pipes from vibrating they're WAY too flimsy.
The only way header wrap would stop a noise would be if the header or front pipe was rubbing on a heat shield or metal part of the car.
