Any idea on when actual information will be available on the 2014 models? The only thing I really want are the HIDs, and even if they're not included in the 2014 base models, I want to know if I'll atleast be able to order them from Scion separately.

If it doesnt come with HIDS, good one costs around $60. That's what I might get for mine.

I was thinking of that too, but I'd rather not have to bend down squirrel finders in the stock projectors in case I need to switch back to stock bulbs for some reason at some point. Plus, getting the real HIDs from Scion like the ones from the GT86 or the 10 Series FR-S would get you the LED strip inside the headlights as well, and they just look way better.

Reviving an old thread, but it's almost June now...I'm a few weeks away at most from getting an FR-S but really would prefer knowing what I WON'T get if I don't wait for the 2014. Any new information out yet, or a timeline as to when they'll release information on the base 2014's that are due in Fall?

^ I am in the same boat. I am probably just going to wait until september just cause it is only like 3 months away. But has anyone heard anything about the differences for the 2014 fr-s? I know that the head unit will be different (touch screen).

If FR-S develops like the last Toyota niche sporty car, MR-S, there will be no significant changes for the first few model years. Even then, MR-S changes were fairly minor: body cosmetics, engine durability improvements and unfortunately a 1" ride height increase to improve pedestrian safety and price increases. That's why serious MR-S autocrossers look for the lighter, lower 2000-2003 MY cars.

I wouldn't expect significant changes in already outstanding FR-S coupe platform. It seems Toyota is focusing on developing the FR-S convertible. I would expect a hefty price increase similar to the last two that on a % basis lead all other Toyota series increases. FR-S is Toyota's hottest selling model when measuring inventory levels on the industry standard day's supply on the ground, even outselling the hybrids. It wouldn't make sense to mess with a good thing that is leading the Scion brand back from the brink.

I know about the touchscreen and I think if the touch screen is the only difference, then I'll just get the 2013. I'll get it sooner, so I'll be able to drive it sooner, and I like the upgradeable Premium Pioneer touch screen head unit better than the standard 2014 touchscreen head unit.

I really hope we get the JDM/EDM headlights just like the 10 series but obviously available in all colors. The current headlights make the car look dull and they stick out like a sore thumb to me. I am shopping for this car this year and waiting out for the '14. If im not happy with what they bring in. I will just get a base FRS or maybe even a BRZ.

I also hope WE HAVE MORE INVOLVMENT FROM TRD. I hate how UK gets TRD package while us americans dont.

I really just wanted the headlights thats all. Why cant we have them? I am getting impatient, especially since the '14 models should be coming out this year......1~3 months more? Yet we get no information. I hope this is a ploy to sell the 10 series FRS.

not I, I favor the fr-s headlights being non-led. It reminds me of the Toyota's of yore, and I am not a fan of EURO by any means. I know the Lexus division is already all over it, which was just a matter of time to keep up with market changes.

A lot of younger buyers want the LEDS which is understandable. I just appreciate their absence.

The euro/jdm headlights should be an option for the FRS. If you don't like it, don't get it.

I agree, If they wanted to keep the price down they can. But just give us the options.

I get it, and thought the same until my first night drive on a pitch black two-lane mountain road coming home. These HID's are the best of any Toyota or Lexus I've owned. I'm not sure if it's the actual reflector design, seating position or what, but road illumination is exceptional.

And as much as I like the LED's, it pains me to see a Kia SUV driving by with them. Still, I'll take them to be different and help resale value.

From what I understand they share their projector with the 10-12 Lexus RX, they just don't have the auto up down adjustment or the side to side turning. These projectors are regarded as some of the best in the business.
