19's will kill the ride and acceleration of a low-torque car like the FRS.
Shoot, in most cases 18's are overkill. Some nice, carefully-researched 17X9's with decent tires and a subtle drop will provide you with decent grip, performance, and appearance. |

So it better to stay 17x8 if you want to stay on good perfomance for track weekend and still look good on the ladys I was thinking 18x8 with sticky tires

I like the look of my 18s and it handles great. I think it comes down to your goals. If you plan to track the car a lighter 17 may be better (from what i read) but if you are like me and you enjoy spirited driving on the street you cant go wrong with an 18 and it will look nicer in my opinion.

But unless you have boost or track often, 225 width summer tires (which fit easily on 17X8) should be more than enough for most people and applications.... |

17's... Function over form. I just wish mine were 8.5 instead of 7.5. Still fit a 245 nicely though despite what people said. I will be dropping the car an inch in the near future. (Mine is the FR-S)
**I have also upgraded from tape numbers/letters :p ![]()

If done properly, form can be achieved with function...
17s and 18s are best. 19s are for show cars.

17's - track/auto-x/Mr. Function over form
18's - Looks good/still can auto-x, track/not as comfortable and louder road noise 19's - Fender flares/width over 10in/more expensive tires/louder road noise/heavy/mostly for hard parking and car shows.

I also think there's something to be said about the TRD wheels being 18x7.5" +45. These were the size wheels used for the Long Beach celebrity Grand Prix this year on the FRS (although I'm sure with much stickier tires than stock).

Personally, I'm saving up for 18's with a 1" drop. Love the look of it.
But, lowering 1.5" or so with some plasti dip for the rims would look pretty good. The stockers aren't horrible, I'm just not a huge fan of stock anything on a tuner car. Makes me feel like I'm too broke to mod lol |

The car looks better without a drop. I'll modify that - 18 inchers and no drop. There's something amateurish looking about a lowered car, unless its on a track.
