Lots and lots of BJ's! Girls are dumb.

But in all seriousness I was in the same boat and in it again, I have a broken thumb. Nothing makes it heal faster than rest and eating healthy. You're body needs nutrients to repair.

Sorry you got injured, dude.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. Just always had a healthy interest with how our bodies work.

On the one hand, you are semi-screwed, as a general rule, the further something is from your head, the longer it takes to heal fully. So ankles tend to take a while to heal, plus its not a very vascular region (not alot of blood flow, more blood flow = faster healing)

On the other hand, you do have options. Other than the recommended elevation and compression, the more you move it, the more blood you will get circulating through the area, and the faster it will heal. Wiggling your toes, flexing your leg (guessing you are just in a boot), even flexing the ankle itself (if you can manage it without much pain) will help increase blood flow to the area and speed the healing process. And as FnFast said--eat healthy and take vitamins. Your body is fixing itself, and it needs the building materials.

Do you have any Physical Therapy required or recommended? If so, do it. Its probably along the lines that I just mentioned, but the PT folks really do know what they are doing.

Finally, don't push it--wait to get clearance from your doc before you try anything beyond low-impact. Trying anything too strenuous can cause you to re-injure or delay the healing process.

And good luck! Hope it heals quickly!

im still in my splint from surgery. In about 2 weeks i get the staples out of my ankle. They said i would recover in 3-4 months but i just cant wait that long lol. Physical therapy im guessing would start when i get the staples out and when i get my boot, but im not sure.

Well, as I said, move it as much as possible and eat healthy. Sounds like it was a pretty good break if you had to have surgery. Again, good luck. 3-4 months is gonna be a bitch to wait.
