Lol.. Is there anything about this car you like? Omg.. Why don't you sell it and get something else... Frickin hilarious...

First off if you are racing or driving the car really spirited and you are getting on it at 3k you are doing it wrong. The idea is to keep the car in its power band, and that goes for all cars not just the FRS. If you want to be able to mash the throttle at 3k and get pushed back in your seat then that's the opposite of a momentum car and the wrong car for you. I don't like the torque dip either, and it can be pretty much removed with some mods and a tune if you really wanted to, but the car does have humbly modest sized balls above 5k and can definitely keep up momentum.

I don't think it is worth debating with him. He clearly did not know what he was getting when he bought the car, and he clearly did not drive other cars that will give him what he is looking for. If you want gobs of low end torque, this car was never the right car. It was well documented and discussed and a 5 minute test drive is all it takes to understand what these cars will or will not do. Get a Mustang GT and call it a day. Then you can be the fastest guy between stop lights.....

I'm happy with the car, no car is perfect that's what the aftermarket is for.

Why is there so much argument on how fast the car is? The car is down on power and the torque dip contributes to that problem. The question is what do you hate most of the FRS/BRZ? I hate that it's slow compared to some family sedans.

I love everything about this car but the radio seems to be having a problem where it periodically gets muffled and then comes back. I did some searching for this and was surprised I didn't find anything. I tried turning off the ASL and various SSP settings and it doesn't seem to have an effect. And it only appears to be with the radio, bluetooth music seems fine. So maybe it's an antennae thing? I found a youtube video that helped me realize my stereo was set to "TC" which definitely made a difference in the sound but this is still happening.

It sounds as if you were to put your fingers in your ears briefly (muffling the sound a bit) and then taking your fingers out.

Anyone have advice on troubleshooting?

Thanks!

Might have to do with the switching from HD to SD radio, usually due to weak signal in your area. If its happening all the time, you can turn off the HD feature in your settings.

Thanks I tried turning off the HD radio and don't think it made a difference. I'll make sure it's off on my way home today and see if I'm still noticing the muffling.

EDIT: Some googling turns up a few people with similar experiences with HD radio. I'll double check that out today and test it out. Thanks!

I wish it had the handle bars above the doors or maybe in the back so I could hang a shirt up. Also would like more storage, the doors feel like they could hold so much more and maybe elsewhere too.

Uh, my AE86 had a torque hole from 0-4500. My FRS feels like a rocket in comparison! We have this awefull freeway unramp that has poor visibility and almost no run up ramp. So you almost always have to come to a full stop then go full blast to merge onto freeway. After getting used to the FRS when I took my ae82 gts on that ramp it felt like slug in comparison!
