A year should be plenty of time to scold the manufacturer of the pump but seriously plenty of time to re-engineer the pump. I would wait for the 2014 FRS/BRZ that's a good idea of when the new pump will come.

Got my fr-s last Friday. Had the crickets when I got home about 20 miles on the car. After a little over 300 miles I have noticed that it comes and goes. Taking it to the dealer on Monday.

Why? So they can wrench on it for no reason and possibly create a new problem or scratch something in the process? Just drive it and consider it "normal noisy"
And enjoy your car... When and if something changes ... You can read it here and then take it in for a good reason..

The better advice is to log a case with the dealership and Scion, so there's a record of issue with your car, and another concerned owner. I do agree with others that I wouldn't have someone driving/wrenching on my car just to replace a defective designed pump with the same.

I agree but I would certainly take it in and complain so that the fault is logged in the system. I would also ask them to complain that this known fault has been there for over a year and it's pathetic it hasn't been fixed yet when the car is rated for E10 and that seems to be the cause.

Mwjcyber, Snap!!! Almost.

There is nothing they can do but log the issue. A new pump will not fix the issue as it currently stands. But hey, it is worth noting and hopefully th more complaints there are, the more motivator Toyoburu will be to find a fix.

Chirping

Was using 91 octane from Pioneer then switched to 94 from Petro Canada.
Got the chirping noise after a tank of gas, read this thread, then switched to 91 octane from Shell, first tank, noise gone.
1600km-3000km

Chirping was especially loud today. I've been using Chevron 91 since the first fill up. I'm wondering if I should give Shell a try, but since they both have ethanol, I don't think it will matter.

I have to go to the dealer on monday anyways, so I can get my new grill. why you ask? Those jerks decided to mount my front plate, after I told them not to.

Yeah I made sure they knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I DID NOT want them to mount the plate.

I was lucky and they remembered.

So I called my dealer about something non-related, and they notified me that they went ahead and ordered a new pump for me because they heard the sound when I came in. This will be my fourth, but I believe that the continued complaints and replacement of this part is the only way to get Toyota/Scion/Subaru to fix it.....

Just thought it was cool that they ordered one with my needing to ask for it ( again).....

No crickets where this morning I pulled into the dealer with them. Of course I will be listening closely over the next few hundred miles....

If Subaru/Toyota still don't have a real fix as of now, then that means the 2014 models will have crickets too, lol.

Still no crickets. I've been driving the car normally and with good amounts of spirit in 85+ degree humid weather where the crickets used to be loud and clear. I think they are gone for good with this green dot HPFP.

Any change in fuel stations? Try different Chevron/Shells as well. You could be hitting a good station with low ethanol content. Sounding good so far.
