It only does it when you are near the door or trunk

This man is correct. Also, having two keys near the car at the same time tends to screw with the signal. I discovered this trick only after realizing that I still had my spare key inside the cabin. Once I took out the spare key...magic!

I had the same problem the day I got my car. The spare in the glovebox caused the door handle features didn't work at all, and the glowy stuff only worked when you opened the doors.

I still haven't completely figured out the proximity lights. The dome light thing only works if you have it switched to come on when the doors open. The badges glow when you get near the car, from any direction in my experience. It seems to only work if the car has not detected the key fob recently. I trigger mine the most often from in front of the car, walking by the parking lot with the key in my pocket.

It's actually laid out in the Manual with pictures. Not that anyone reads that thing.

From the videos I have seen posted from dealers & information provided by Scion. It works when a door is opened, or if you use your keyfob and press unlock when at a distance. BUT do not take my word for it, I do not have my vehicle yet.

I'd be interested in ordering some foglights, as they are still not available as PIO in Canada. But I first want to determine if there is a way to turn the amber turn signals to only turn on when using signal. I don't like the look of the fogs & ambers being on at same time, makes front end look too crowded, I'm not a jacked up Jeep with excessive amount of offroad lights. Anyone have a suggestion?

Did you get a different manual than I did? I got what seems to be the standard FR-S manual, which doesn't cover the 10 Series stuff. The extra papers covering the badges and light-up dash panel are essentially just wiring diagrams.

Do check to make sure you do not have the spare in the car. Mine was in the glove box, and if the system detects a key inside the car these features will not work.

Lock the car via the keyless method (touch the little spot with grooves on the outside of either door handle, and you should get a beep), and walk away from the vehicle. Go have a sandwich, far away from the vehicle. Come back to the car, with the key fob in your pocket, and the badges should light up when it detects the key fob in range.

I haven't figured out the timing yet, but it seems to need to have not detected a key for a certain amount of time for it to work. Last Friday, I was installing my springs, and I set off the badges several times in a row without ever opening a door. It seems that I just had to step far away enough from the vehicle for enough time, and it would reset.

Have you tried both doors? And are you able to unlock the door just by grabbing the handle?

Mine turns on when I approach as well, I'd ask the dealership maybe. Or did you by chance tint all windows with some kind of signal blocking tint?

Do you guys/gals think the 10 Series might of not been produced at the Subaru plant in Gunma. From the stickers we have seen it labels Final Assembly point Aichi, Japan. From what I've been able to gather from the interweb, the he Scion iQ, xD, and xB (not sure since 2006-present might of moved elsewhere) were all built in Aichi.

Maybe it was just the final location for badge install & electroluminescent dash considering the unique 10 series dash color/fiber are on all of the 10 series models.
