There's no need for a poll like this. This debate of real vs fake has been beaten to death in all car forums. This is just for someone with "replica" wheels to justify their purchase. In all honesty, just get whatever the f*ck you want that fit your budget and needs. Who gives a fuck what others think. Mod your car to YOUR liking, not everybody else's. As long as you are happy with whatever you purchase for your car, whether real or fake, that is all that matters!

Why do people think "real" wheels cost 3.9k + ? If you cant afford a set of Volks thats fine. Not everyone can ditch out that kind of money but there are other cheaper alternative for "real" rims like enkei and Rays Gramslight line.

If an additional 15-25lbs of unsprung rotational weight doesn't bother you, go for the knockoffs. If it does, go for the fully forged wheels.

no one wants to admit that they could have got a similar product for less. they feel the need to justify the money they spent. if you can afford top of the line stuff, thats awesome. but some people try to degrade cheaper products to make them selves feel better.

Ha ha. I am not trying to justify a damn thing. I could care less whether anyone likes my rims fake or not. I just wanted to start a little poll cause I hadn't seen one.
And I have never in the past claimed my wheels were real ones. Those people are just sad.

I will personally be running Rota Grids. I can't justify running a set of $3200 wheels on a car that costs $25k new. With tires, that is near 20% of the car's worth. The car will depreciate in value, while the wheels won't. give it 4 years and it'll be 33% of the cars worth and just get worse. Maybe I'll change my mind one day, but for now with a DD only car, I'll stick with fake.
That same logic to the S13/S14 guys that spend $5000 on a rare JDM set of wheels when the car cost them $2500.

When you're wheels/tires are your most important piece of laying down the power to the ground, you want to spend the most money here, IMO.

That's probably not an accurate statement.... It has to do more with the grade and quality of casting aluminum. Even though casting aluminum is of a certain grade, there are variances within that grade dependent on the foundry source that creates it. As casting aluminum and various other grade aluminum are in essence not pure aluminum, the mixing of these other materials at the source effects the overall quality of the resulting grade. As a result, there are always wheels that will bend and others that will crack... The easiest analogy is baking bread... The results of a bread are usually reflecting the type of ingredients within the dough that will yield results... Cast wheels along with forged wheels are no different... The wheel is as good as the material it uses.

Agreed. Thankfully these cars don't have much power, so nothing i have to worry about

Although i have seen reps on some race cars in one of the rota threads on here.

just from what ive seen, its the exact opposite. I have alot of people trying to justify why they got replicas / knock offs. I mean everyone has a reason but the people ive met go out of their way to justify why they got the wheels they did. All my friends with "real" wheels dont brag about it, they always tell people to get what they can afford and what suits them best.

Everyone has different priorities and points of interest and different budgets to stay respectful of.

It seems you're hating on "real" wheels :/

I know all that and I've bought up wheel construction in previous posts, but my statement was pretty simplified for the sake of my point that you're more likely to just bend a Rays, SSR, or Work wheel than break it into pieces like you commonly see with Rota, XXR, etc. There are some "high end" wheel manufacturers out that that claim their wheels are forged, but they're really just cast wheels when you start examining their manufacturing process.

^LOL

My first wheels are always going to be "test" wheels. Just need to get rid of the ugly stocks for something decent short-term.

Exactly what I did as well. I didn't like the stock rims
