Update to this thread as some questions were in here on using differing final drive with the AT and if that would be OK or if it would negatively affect transmission shift software... Apparently the final drive modification works fine with the AT which is good news. This thread on page 11 goes into detail:

However...

I believe that would be working on upgrades for the traditional torque converter automatic. Therefore, they may possibly be looking at upgraded clutch plates, upgraded torque converter, upgraded valve body, upgraded solenoids, etc.

I doubt that they would replace the torque converter AT with a DCT as that would require a LOT of work in terms of controlling the transmission and messing with the ECU.

But again... just my hypothesis.

Also...

Thanks for the people that wanted to see this stickied. Having it stickied would be awesome. The support is great and I am planning to update some stuff this weekend. Also taking a look at a fr-s this weekend as well.

....Reply.....

Currious how long, estimate, itll take to do work for a DCT?

The reason I say that I doubt that they will be replacing the transmission with a DCT is that it is a completely different technology.

www.dctfacts.com

I would also recommend looking up the Youtube videos that have the cut away videos that showcases how a torque converter automatic works.

To summary, your traditional automatic uses planetary gear sets. Your DCT is essentially 2 manual transmissions shoved into one. One clutch controls your 1,3,5. The other clutch controls 2,4,6. The benefits of the DCT transmission is that it shifts extremely quickly.

The technology in these transmission are completely different. I doubt that they would do something like this for the everyday car enthusiast.

There would really be no benefit to fitting a DCT as the upgraded clutch packs and other parts would be more than adequate.
