Not really.. two days on a world class circuit plus one night of good catered food at the banquet plus potential raffle prizes (slightly less relevant for BRZ guys but not really, Eibach gave out Coilovers for whatever car the winner owned last year, etc). Not that bad a deal really. I think Chin Motorsports charged 500-600 for 2 day Mid Ohio events. Auto Interests has their one day event shortly before this one, $270 for one day early registration, $315 late (aug 2nd and after).

So yeah HPDE in general costs money, but this event isn't even run for profit (right now we are losing money) so we are cheaper than most.

We do enforce strict safety standards though, but I doubt many here would have to worry about it since most people here aren't running ghetto safety setups yet

While the cost of the HDPE is amazing! The cost of taking off two days from work comes into play also, which is usually not an issue for most of the other HDPEs because they occur on the weekend. I really want to come to this, but need to make sure I have enough PTO for the rest of the year.

I just realized this is on a Monday/Tuesday (was thinking it was the weekend)

Hmmmm...maybe an overnight drive up?

True. Most of the core group travels so many plan for it (obviously few here had real notice ). I'm driving up from Florida so I have many days off for the event

I wish it were a weekend event honestly but Mid Ohio weekend dates are hard to get for a once-a-year event

Cost: Drivers: $425 ($450 after August 1), Instructors: $40, Non-Driver/Guests: $40

Wasn't it $400 if you registered before July 1st?

I really want to go but the drive is so damn long. 12 hours for me, lol. I'd have to make a stop in Chicago.

What would you say you must bring/do to an event like this? I'm thinking...

extra set of front rotors
drive to expo with oem wheels/tires and swap to sticky tires
extra pads? I still have a lot of life left on my XP10. Not sure if I'd burn through them after 2 days.
torque wrench for lug nuts
extra bottle of brake fluid + tools
floor jack with jack stands

Bring your car and yourself. If you've never tracked on the rotors you have, you'll be fine. The stock rotors on this car are amazingly resilient. Maybe bring spares just in case. You should be fine with XP10s. Bring stock pads for the drive home just in case.

Swapping wheels and tires is ok, but not necessary. I drive everywhere on my RE-11a.
Torque wrench is a good idea, but track neighbors will have them
Brake Fluid isn't really needed to bring, but its always safe to have.
Jack and Jack Stands - neighbors have those too.

Ive started finding that the more I track, the less and less I bring to the track. It's less hassle. I've never had an issue.

Everything you listed is a good idea to bring, but its not going to be the end of the world if you don't bring some of it. Don't get all worked up on what to bring or what not to bring.

Bring yourself, bring your car, and bring the frame of mind that you are there to learn and have a good time and you'll be just fine.

As I said, if you need a place to stop in Chicago, let me know.

Yeah, it was. I posted a thread back when it was but no one replied lol

Quite a few Chicago folks coming btw so you could just a caravan.

I normally bring a spare set of rotors, street pads, some oil, torque wrench, a chair or 2, misc tools. Luckily with the community involved you don't need to worry about tools often, since people will let you borrow stuff. Same with jack stands, jack, etc. I often haven't brought any of that stuff and it's never been an issue. Hell there have been spare heads installed because people misshifted, so spare head was installed on an ITR to get the guy home (a 25 hour drive IIRC) and let him track some more I brought a TON of stuff last year because I was swapping springs at the event, this year I will be bringing a lot less

Sorry for the rambling post, multitasking here..

This year I plan on bringing:
-My normal track fluid box (spare Motul for the diff, Torco for the trans, redline for the engine, AP Super 600 for brakes, invisible glass, brake clean, etc)
-My normal track tools (misc sockets, gearwrenches, pass-thru rachets, screwdrivers, etc)
-2 Full size spares (in case of flats, punctures along the way, etc)
-1 or 2 chairs
-Cooler
-Ton of clothes including stuff for a wedding I'm going to after the event
-A spare liver for all the brewery tours after the event
-Spare rotors and street pads
-Maybe a small aluminum jack for roadside wheel swaps - stock jack would work though so I might skip it.

I think that's about it.

Oh yeah, I'll probably just drive with the OEM wheels/tires just in case of punctures like you said. I'll have 4 extra wheels to go through, lol.

Does ITR Expo allow spectator ride alongs, or do you need to be with an instructor at all times?
