The bumper beams in USDM Imprezas are ~45lbs (fortified for 5mph tests)compared to ~7lbs with the JDM pieces. This is weight at the very ends of the car and with it off it will really improve what the car has to offer. If you don't want to thats your choice.
The tests in this market will require those to be heavier than their JDM counter parts, Im guessing at least 50lbs to be saved from that alone, and its not expensive. Saving guesses: Exhaust Ti-30lbs Battery-20lbs stock wont be only 15lbs, just look at it. Wheels-15lbs could be more but $$$$ Im betting over 100lbs could be lost with these upgrades. But back on topic: With a proper boost job I wont need to sweat all the ~5-30lb savings. |

Please no turbo. But I would happily take one of these worked over and shoved in there.

Prediction:
Within 5 years, 60% of the people who own a n/a FR-S/BRZ will constantly bemoan the fact that they don't have a FI'd FR-S/BRZ, and so that will be their big dream project. Another 20% will do some sort of crazy n/a build, and spend way too much money for relatively small gains, but will vehemently defend that decision (even if they break a few motors in the process). The remaining 20% will buy hideous body kits and hellaflush their cars, to the embarrassment of us all. Nostrajordo has spoken

LOL. Anyway when the new WRX comes out nobody will think about the BRZ anymore. The WRX has always been the fastest car for the least money.

You talking about me? Btw that isn't a 2.5L. It is a 3.6 H6. I would take that over any 1.6T/2.0T engine. If the H6 could fit, the added weight would be minimal. Don't forget that a turbo also adds weight as well; turbo, intercooler, piping...etc. NA power >>>> turbo power. |

FFS!
TU is only lighter than NA when is makes 200 PS/L. However, the more power you want the get from a TU engine, the more you need to add weight. To get more power from a NA engine, on the contrary the engine gets lighter. BMW N54 TT 3.0l I6 306 PS @ 5.800 RPM 400 Nm @ 1.300-5.000 RPM Redline @ 7.000 RPM 195 kg BMW N62 NA 4.0l V8 306 PS @ 6.300 RPM 390 Nm @ 3.500 RPM Redline @ 6.500 RPM 265 kg BMW S65 NA 4.0l V8 420 PS @ 8.300 RPM 400 Nm @ 3.900 RPM Redline @ 8.400 RPM 202 kg I think I do not need to add any words, the numbers speek for themselves. Also, the FI McLAren MP4-12C still did not outperform the NA Ferrari 458 Italia! |

The N54 can easily be modified to blow those engines out of the water. Boost is an aftermarket delight for performance.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a 3.6 subaru boxer. They could've easily make a smaller, lighter flat 6 with the D/I. Like a FA30 made in the same way as the FA20 or my original choice would be more cost effective. A FA25.

I am talking about stock cars. If you are looking at modded cars, anything can be turned into a 1000 HP MONSTER. Why not get an EVO X by AMS with 900 PS? |

Sure a H6 would be even better, but the car then still should have been design around this engine, and not the H4. Now I think it is too late. But for a larger displacment H4 it is not too late, and I am sure we'll get some soon, hopefully from Cosworth with ITB, CF CAI and dry sump lubrication.
