turns out entire strip where that sensor or whatever it is lifts up. it was a little loose when i was poking at it. i pulled the whole right side up and clipped everything back down. guess we'll see....

pretty sure this fixed it for me. didn't hear anything at all driving around today. that whole plastic strip with the defroster air vents just lifts up with little effort. it was a pain to get all the clips back in but it seems more solid now. must've came loose somehow

it's one of those noises that's becoming real hard to track down. I havent had a chance yet but i'm going to pull the head unit and see whats up. hoping its either just a loose bolt that holds the head unit in or maybe a wire that's knocking around against something. if i can't find it i'll just leave it at the dealer and have them hunt it down

Its the AC vent in the center above the radio. Saw a thread awhile back. Its the housing that holds the slats in. They just taped the housing and the noise went away.

checked around the ac vents. the plastic parts are as solid as can be. i pulled the stereo out quick and noticed the metal frame around the ac vents would make a similar noise on one side so i pulled at the metal a tiny bit and i was no longer to make the noise by tapping on it. thought it was that... but nope. if anything over the last few days it's gotten worse. kinda at a loss at this point. I saw some bundled cables back in the dash, including an unused harness
but can't seem to pinpoint the sound. guess i'll be leaving it at the dealer some time soon. it's driving me nuts

I have a rattle behind my HVAC control unit. I know this because I hear it when I hit bumps.. but when I push hard on the plastic around the knobs the sound goes away.
One of these days I need to pull that apart and try to isolate the noise. |

I have had the exact same rattle as everyone else here. It sounds as if its coming from behind the radio/AC area. But, after looking around, on a whim, I checked my rear view mirror. Sure enough that was the source. The metal spring clip that holds the adapter plate was rattling against each other. It seems like the noise was bouncing off the windshield and made it seem as if it was coming from the dash area. So, some you may want to check your mirror.

I've got the same sound in mine. I've been hunting it down for some time now. I'll post again if I find anything. I'll try the mirror thing that Sid mentioned too.
Gotta say, it sounds plastic and not metal though. |

LOL, that's exactly what I did. Drove around pushing up on the base of the mirror and every time I let go the rattle would start again. I took the mirror and back plate off and squeezed some auto/marine grade silicon sealer in and around the spring clip and that pot metal adapter. Re-installed everything using Loctite on the screws and no more rattle and 95% of my mirror vibration is gone. sid |
