Just curious, why choose TRD USA exhaust over the TRD Japan ones? Is it because of cost? looks? sound? availability? Thanks!

TRD japan is muffler section only, TRD USA is a cat-back. Hands down TRD japan quad tips looks better than the triangle tips from the TRD usa imo. I still won't buy either one.

I'm pretty sure it is 2.5. I'll confirm when I actually have my car, or someone here with the exhaust can confirm before me.

TRD has a cleaning/oiling kit, but you can use the easy to find K&N stuff as per the instructions that came from TRD.

i have the trd exhaust just because it was a factory addition. If it's a true 2.5 diameter idc, but if it's stock diameter than i am disappointed.

The JDM TRD quad tip also requires a modified bumper. The black plastic in the back has to be cut off and a new one for the exhaust needs to be put in its place.
Cutting your new car's bumper is likely another reason people go with the USA version for now

I thought the videos in this article where actually a pretty good representation. I have both a TRD exhaust and CAI. I can't say much to the power gain because I got them a week after I got the car but the sound is great. Just on the edge of being too loud for me, but not over.

its a great sound just as everybody else already said. I have the trd cai and exhaust on my brz and its great. I wanted the shape of the exhaust tips and the sound was amazing when I test drove a frs. Whats even better is if you have the rear diffuser with the d shape tips. looks amazing. On a side note, the ladies love the sound also. Day 1 when I put the exhaust on I went for a test drive, and had a suv of 2 smokin hotties catch up to me to yell and say they love the sound and look of my car.
