I don't think Dwight is going to win this season, but could he win in the future with Houston Rockets? Maybe.

That remains to be unseen for me. Houston would still need to go through a good list of teams in order to come out of the WC. Time will tell, I guess.

I think they could do it, not sure how fast they'll gel together to make things happen for them.

I only see SA, GS, OKC and LAC as contenders at this point.

I don't think Dwight cares enough to want it enough. Sure, they will be talented and should be right up there in the discussion of titles contenders, but I just don't see how you win a championship with that guy begin your #1. He has no lead mentality. He's a child trapped in a monster body.

Just to reiterate, not knocking on Houston one bit, they have an awesome team adding Dwight. Just pointing at his leadership/maturity skills.

Agreed.

What better time than now to finally get over himself and prove me and anyone else who thinks he can't grow up. Cause if I'm a GM for another NBA team and I see Dwight wants out and change teams again, I would look the other way. Not worth the time or money to put up with his brattiness.

As a team the Rockets looks like they have all the bases covered. Its just up to Dwight to be team player though.

Doubt it.

1) He has that poison pill contract.
2) They seem to be invested in his development.
3) The Rockets love the presence in the Chinese market.

What's the poison pill? I've read a couple articles and they kept saying how they may trade off Lin.

I kinda feel that if they give Lin another 2-3 years he'll really start to shine... but that's all up to the GM.

So his first 2 years are reasonable at ~$5mil each, but in his third year, it balloons to $15mil. The Rockets used this to prevent the knicks from resigning him. Now in his third year, he would be a tradeable asset because NBA teams love large expiring contracts, but for now, he should remain put. I think if he starts to show glimpses of what he did in NY, they will want to keep him for the long run. Howard should help in this regard as Lin was deadly on the pick and roll with Chandler. Last year, he had Asik as his main big, not exactly the most dominant center offensively...

Gotcha. I didn't know about that poison pill strategy until now. Thanks.

I too don't think Houston will do much damage...well at least for now. Like are they planning to run the pick and roll with him through Harden/Lin?? Or are they planning on using him in the post (lol no post skills) and just pass it out to the perimeter shooters in Lin/Harden/Parsons so they can live or die by the 3? Nowadays there are too many good teams that they have to beat out and I don't see that happening. Just my thoughts but who knows...they might prove me wrong.

On another note...the Lakers officially suck. Thanks for the memories MWP =(

If u look at the evolution of the league, the three ball has become deadlier than ever. With a big man in the middle and a bunch of shooters on the outside, Houston has a real shot here. Dwight will improve his post game, he actually wanted to post up more but couldn't in D'Antoni's system. He has Kevin McHale and Kareem to help him out here (two of the best in the history). Mix in his improved post game with the pick and roll with Harden/Lin, and I think Houston can do more damage than you think.
