Does the moderator/site owner have a way of contacting him to see if he is going to continue the thought of producing these?
Cheers |

I'm still posting on the forums here and there but have generally avoided this thread. I really hate the idea of disappointing a lot of you guys, but I've decided to not go through with this product. The simple fact is there has not been enough interest shown in this product to make it feasible for me to pursue production. The amount of tech built into the unit and the quality of components makes the price point simply too high for what the typical 86 owner is willing to pay. I've also decided to get my MBA, which will begin this August. It's a part time program in conjunction with my full time job. There's just not enough demand or time for me to develop all of the high-end niche market products I had in the pipeline for this platform. They will probably remain one-off projects for my personal vehicle.
With all of that being said, if there are any shops who want to pursue this design, please contact me via PM. |

If it helps, a COB LED is just a one bulb solution but holy hell is it bright (but not too bright). This explains what they are pretty well if you're not familiar: http://www.cob-led.com/What-is-cob-L...-on-board.html
I originally had the smaller one in the cargo area of my '11 Outback, but it caused radio interference with the key so I couldn't lock the car while the light was on (since the housing is close in proximity to the antenna printed on the glass). It causes no interference at all in my BRZ. Best of all, it is dimmable so it turns off gradually as you'd expect it to. Since replacing it with another and swapping it into my domelight (needed a .90 cent adapter), I've loved it in my BRZ. I'll probably be buying the bigger one, and I just need to secure it to the inside of the housing. This page has a ton of options: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/t..._Lamp,60,4024: This is the one I'm currently using (which is more than enough) http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/festoon/universal-high-power-led-kit--cob-led-27-pcb-w-festoon-base/1237/2887/ But of course, bigger is better and it's only $3 more. http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/festoon/led-product/1240/2890/ Last edited by DoomsdayJesus; 07-11-2013 at 06:36 PM. |
