3190 miles and chirping is still going. Going into the dealership at 5k miles to get routine check up and I'm going to bring it up then.

I had my pump replaced probably 4k miles ago and the chirping is back. I'll see if I can't get another replacement the next time I take it in for service which should be another 800-1000 miles.

500 miles on this pump, I only use Shell 92 and thankfully no crickets yet.

Crickets have made their return off and on. Had the 1st new PN pump fix at 5,000 miles. Now at 15K and still get crickets occasionally.

I know this is TOO early to write about, but I thought I would share this.....I check a few other blogs and people are reporting that 91 Octane Ethanol Free fuel stops the chirps. I tried it and wow, it worked. My engine has never been quieter. Seriously. I was at a quarter tank and filled it as this fuel is difficult to find, and within 20 km my chirps were gone. I know it is early, but hopefully this may a be solution.......hopefully....

It has been pretty well proven throughout this thread that ethanol-free gas fixes it. Problem is that most people do not have access to ethanol-free gas.

I really wish people would read. Octane HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. It's the ethanol content in the gas causing a lubrication issue in the fuel pump producing the chirping noise. This has been confirmed over and over. I swapped between a Chevron and a Shell station with 93 octane and I've gotten less chirps from the Chevron station due to probably a lower ethanol content than the Shell station I went to.

There must be a fuel additive out there that would fix the crickets.

From what I have seen on this thread and others, 2-cycle engine oil can help, but is best avoided since it basically introduces crap into the engine that isn't supposed to be there. In general, fuel additives don't do much to help the car, and are mostly a waste of money.

For me, the best solution at this point is to just leave it be. A couple users have mentioned that once they get up there in miles (most >10k), the crickets simply disappear. Patience appears to be a virtue in this case

I'm pretty sure my dealership doesn't want to fix my crickets or anything else under warranty

They won't give me a loaner while they replace both of my condensating fishbowl taillights and "diagnose" the crickets, even though they say they won't know how long it will take.

I suppose they just want me to camp in the waiting room for a few days?

So, I've been told by two different people (one a good friend that loves to work on cars and knows a lot about them, the other a relative that owns an auto shop and does work on cars every day all day) that the crickets should be coming from the rear of my car, not the front, as the fuel pump should be located back there, not under the hood. The noise is quite clearly coming from under the hood and has gotten worse over time. Can anyone confirm the location of the fuel pump for this car? And why, if the pump is in the back, the noise comes from the front? Could it be the injectors instead?

I heard the crickets this morning.
It's hardly noticeable now, but it probably is because it's only the first day of chirping.
No crickets for the next 3 days. I only heard it that morning. That day was more muggy than usual. Nice trade wind over the weekend and no crickets now.
