He said he's running the Strano bar, which is 22mm hollow. This is the softest aftermarket FSB on the market (85% stiffer than stock)

Anyone have a good idea on how much time difference there is between our stock nearly all season tires and a good set of max or extreme summer tires?

I noticed load ranges on racing or extreme performance tires tend to be lower than standard....is this a problem? what kind of minimum range could we run on an otherwise stock car?

I have found now that on some of the tighter courses I am running into too much understeer on the sweepers where I can carry some speed. I have played with tire pressures a bit, and still cant quite find something that I love, though something around 36 square has been good so far.

I thought about picking up the Perrin 16mm rear bar and running it on the softest setting (a 30% stiffness difference from stock) to try to dial back a bit of the understeer. What do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea?
So thoughts anyone?

You failed to mention what other mods you have. Yes a rear sway will help balance the car out a bit. Is it completely stock other than the front Bar. what is your alignment settings?? Camber???? There are lots of other variables other than just throwing bars on... .. but all the other stuff plays just as important roles to the balance of the car...and there is other ways, in combination, to achieve the overall goals.. Hope that makes sense to you. My first thoughts are, to throw a set of Koni's on it.. Then play with the rear bar.

Sure I thought I was clear in what I outlined, sorry if I caused confusion. Stock suspension is fully stock, including camber, etc. That is on the list of things to do as well. At this point, Koni's are also on the list, but that is a price challenge that may have to wait until next season. I guess my question is more in the sense of will changing to that slightly stiffer rear bar dial some of that understeer back out? Sound like it will and I have been thinking that it would. I need some guidance on tire pressure as well. As mentioned I have been playing with it, and just cant find something I am fully happy with. I am thinking going with the rear bar and sticking with my square setup might be the way to go, but I am open to suggestions!

I was told square or slightly lower in the rear starting at approx 38psi hot and going down from there....i'm sure it's dependent on the tires your using though.

Spend the money you would spend on the bar on camber bolts and alignment. Max camber up front (-1.2 or so), 0 toe front, and 1/8" total toe-in out back. Then run a few more events and see if your problem is fixed.

If the car is understeering, you want to make the front end of the car work better - putting a rear bar on is a band-aid at best, and in most situations, is not advisable, regardless of prep level.

For those asking about SP class, per the 2013 rulebook, under CSP is the following statement:

Sports cars under 2.0L not otherwise classified.

Per the owners manual, our engine is 1,998 cm3 < 2.0 L

Therefore, the FR-S/BR-Z is in CSP.

I want to ask the lamest question in the thread...

I really wanna put a lip spoiler on the trunk, we all know this does nothing for aero performance but is someone going to protest this? I got thinking this because I saw an STR Miata this weekend with one.

They could if you win, or just beat them.
