When failsafe is triggered the bypass valve opens and only allows supercharger to make a max of 2 psi untill you shut off the engine and restart.
Noob question, I'm assuming that the bypass valve is to prevent overboost....but what conditions would cause that to happen? Or is my original assumption wrong?

The superchargers boost is limited by the pulley not the bypass. The bypass is used for idle and light throttle cruising. Puts less drag on the motor since the supercharger is not being asked to compress air underneath it. It equalizes the pressure pre and post sc.

ok....that makes sense.... but then in what circumstances would you need a failsafe? The OP says it's to protect against faulty flow, but I don't understand how that could happen? Sorry, hope that's not too basic.....

EDIT - HA! didn't realize you ARE the OP! =)

I just reread your original post...and clicked the links

Failsafe monitors the water injector flow.... if water injection stop, the bypass is activated so that lack of water injection doesn't create a condition where you're boosting higher than you can without water, right?

Your on the right track! The supercharger system is set to whatever psi the pulley allows. In this case 7. With water meth injecting you can advance the ignition timing a bit to gain more power. This advance would cause knock during no meth spray.

If the meth were to not flow properly, the failsafe protects your engine from knock. It limits boost to 2 psi. Even with ignition advanced (for the meth spray)... 2 psi will not blow your engine. My ecu map is also set to not advance timing untill at least 4.5 psi is seen and a certain amount of load is present. These conditions were selected because these are also conditions when the water meth is injecting.

same pulley or with the smaller (higher psi) pulley?

I'm curious about daily-driving logistics with a kit like this. I had a 6psi boost-activated setup for the I/C sprayer in my STI and I would go through a tank of water rather quickly if I left it on all the time.

With a W/M system, do you have two tunes; one with, one without? If you're not switching, how do you conserve your meth? Just stay off the loud pedal?

I do have two tunes. Been running on the meth tune mostly so I can stress/longevity/reliability test it. I've gone through maybe 3 gal in a month but keep in mind I've been playing around with boost.

It obviously lasts a long time when you are just commuting etc.
