Projected Used FR-S Prices

I'm hoping to get a used '13 FR-S by Summer of next year and I was wondering how much they would be so I can plan better and decide whether it is a realistic goal. I am anticipating a FR-S with under 40,000 miles. Currently, they are all around $23k-25k for ones with <10k miles; however there are obviously not many listings since it's too early for people to be giving up their FR-S's. Thanks!

I think they'll stay around the same. There's no major changes between the MY13 and MY14 that would make the current ones drop in value that much.

I'd say, depending on condition and miles, used prices will stay above or around 20k for another year or two easy.

I'd say, depending on condition and miles, used prices will stay above 20k for a couple years easy.
I hope so! In case I ever decide to jump back into the European/ BMW ///M World that would help a lot

It's been sitting at this particular dealership for more than 2 months. 1-owner, no accident, everything was perfectly fine with the car. When I took delivery, the big price tag shown a crossed out $25,995 laying on the dash.

If you happen to live in bigger cities where there's higher demand for these cars you may have a better chance selling them for higher.
This was not, by chance, at Morries Subaru in Brooklyn Center was it?

According to cars.com, there are some listings for FR-S' that have 10k miles+ and are priced from $17,000 and up so I was hoping it would be around there by next year.

It seems like the Automatics are depreciating more than the manuals, assuming that there's less demand for automatics. Most of the ones that you see under $20k on cars.com are autos.

Always in a sports car, unless its a rare occasion when the automatic is demand better then the manual offered like the Porsche PDK for example.

I test drove a Argento FR-S with 17k at the Burnsville Toyota (the previous owner had de-badged the back and put one of the GT86 piston logos on the back instead of the Scion badge and a Toyota badge on the front). They had a price of $24,999 which my salesman said that seemed high and they could probably do better.

keep in mind for the used cars, these were known in the community as drift machines. make sure you do a deep inspection on the car to make sure the previous owner wasnt sliding half the time.

I think $20,000 might be the lowest for the summer time, next summer though maybe closer to $15,000 if you play your cards right.

Some of it is going to depend on what make of dealership the car is at as well. If the car is at a Scion dealer it's likely to be priced higher (especially if they sold it first) since it's a convenient sales opportunity for someone who can't get into new car financing. Usually like the member who got his for $21k, other make dealers are going to price it low because it presents a potential loss of sale if people to do a comparison of one type of car over what they sell and decide to go buy that car new somewhere else. It's the major reason large dealerships own multiple brands and shift the used to the "right" lot.

Dealers will try to ask for list (kbb/edmunds/black book) or close to it depending on their inventory and what I outlined above so I doubt you'll see them for $15k but $18k is a possibility at a non-Scion dealer.

$18K on a high mileage trade-in. Maybe. $15K? Not unless the car was in a major accident. These cars don't depreciate $5-10K per year.

At best you'll see $20k flat next summer on '13 models that were driven hard.

They won't be consistently below $20k for another 3-4 years at the soonest.

Unless of course all the engines blow up or the wheels fall off this winter.
