The AS1 chassis (GT86/BRZ/FR-S) has a bolt pattern of 5X100 therefore a 5X114 wheel will not work on the cars

I think he means bad because, the AS1 uses the 5X100 bolt pattern

yea if you want wedssport rims you are going to have to go for an adapter which I hear aren't usually the best or do a full conversion using STi parts (hopefully this is a option)

5x100 does make choosing rims and companies selection more narrow

Lol I'm going to say this again. They will make the AS1 5X114.3 just not the first year. Probably the second or third year of production.
