@Kregar

No AEM Infinity application as of right now - it cannot read the stock crank/cam timing pattern as of yet but that will come with time.

I (MP Tuning) do offer a AEM Series 2 PnP Port Injection only kit and have had good results on the Skullworks BRZ, among others. Quad cam control is working great along with much improved throttle response (due to AEM DBW control) and ability to remove the MAF if so desired.

I'm sure this is answered somewhere, but the FAQ section in the first post seems like a good place for this question:

How many horsepower can the factory stock fuel system support?

Some tuners claim ~260-270whp but I haven't seen any empirical evidence yet. I know ptuning was running ~320whp on the stock fuel pump with upgraded injectors.

Now put it in your FAQ collection on the first page: you know this is something anyone thinking of modding needs to know, whether they realize it at first or not.

Will do...any tuners care to weigh in? I'd like to get some confirmation on this before posting in the FAQ and misguiding anyone.

We did 260 something on the vortech with bone stock injectors/pump (graph in dyno thread). Injector duty cycle was the issue up top. With the bigger injectors it is buttery smooth and we can keep it rich no problem now. So the fuel pump is good for at least 260whp SC, I'd guess 280-290 turbo based on efficiency differences. Likely over that though.

The fuel pump that is in the car is global market part that on other platforms usually drops off after 300whp on low boost applications. On higher boost cars where the fuel pressure gradient (FP-boost pressure) ends up lower, you'll run out quicker (fuel pump has to push harder). With WMI you can "band aid" it some so you just have to take that into consideration when comparing the numbers.

The standard 65c DW fuel pump can hold ~400+ on pump.

This may or may not be the proper place to ask this but here goes:

I've been told by Tony from FA20Club that it is possible with ECUtek to eliminate all CEL codes for a missing secondary 02 sensor (low voltage, heater circuit, etc.) and I was wondering if BRZedit or OpenFlashTablet can do the same. TIA.

BRZEdit can also remove the codes same as EcuTEK. I do not know about the openflashtablet, but I'd assume it can as well.

I suppose there isn't a simple answer to "What tune is the best?"

:p

All depends on what you're looking for in regards to goals and relationships. From a bolt-on level, they all more or less provide the same improvements. Unichip and BRZedit are certainly the cheapest roads, however EcuTEK has a slightly more flush featureset if you're planning to go forced induction, etc later on. I only have experience with two of the three major EcuTEK tuners.

I started out with Visconti's 93 and E85 tunes. They were SIGNIFICANT improvements over stock. However, I'm obsessive compulsive and expected my tune to be dialed in based on my modifications (Not just a generic premade tune), and for him to respond to questions I had. After some abrasive interactions, I ended up going a different road...

If excellent customer service is important to you and you want a customized tune perfected to your specific modifications, go FA20Club . Tony is extremely fast to respond to any questions you might have or requests for tune updates. He goes out of his way to help members of this community, even if they are not his customers. This is a sign of an excellent vendor in this man's opinion.

There are numerous threads comparing the various tuning options available. Everyone in this business has an opinion, but the bottom line is you'll have to educate yourself and see which one looks best for what you're looking for.

I ran about 30 cam angle tests last week.... stock motor with a muffler.

Would fix the exhaust cam at 13 degrees, make sweeps on intake cams at 10, 20, 30, 40 advance.

Then moved exhaust cam to like 20 degrees, repeat etc....

I'll post up the sheets after the weekend.

TY for your opinion, I definitely value it. In the BMW world, for the N54 motor, we had a smaller tuner named Terry that made the JB4 tune. The JB4 is considered one of the best for the platform (better, in my opinion, than the Cobb), and I absolutely loved it. Had integrated steering wheel controls, excellent premade maps, a custom map that you could tune 100% on your own, software support with an available USB cable, which let you see real time data like AFR, etc. I'm just looking for the closest thing to that. I think, from what I've gathered, that EcuTek will be the way to go.

Tony sounds like Terry; always going above and beyond to make sure customers are taken care of, even if they didn't buy from him. I decided awhile back that FA20club will be my tuner of choice, even though it has to be remote.

If and when my car is no longer leased I will likely go FA20Club. Seems like a lot to pay up front but in the end seems easy to get started too.
