I'm not so sure about that.

Regardless of price, the AS1 has a combination of light weight, balance, good looks, refinement, reliability, efficiency, and support that's not easy to find. There'e really nothing else like it in my opinion. And for my purposes, there is no superior choice.

No. The GT-86 is estimated to cost about USD123,000 - more or less - when it is launched here in mid-2012. The on-the-road price includes the cost of the license which the buyer is required to obtain from the government in a public auction prior to the registration of the vehicle. The piece of paper known as Certificate Of Entitlement or COE is worth about USD53,000 now, and is only valid for ten years.

That said, BMW is the best-selling brand this year, followed by Mercedes; Toyota at number three, VW is fourth and Audi is fifth. I don't know what to say...

I would leave the country just because of this.

Agree, ft86Fan.

If one is a car-hater and a public-transit lover, then Singapore is the place to be in.

You know you are kinda right...sure the GTR is bad to the bone..but it leaves a disconnected feeling when you drive it...The AS1 is a drivers car...

I see why you want it.

I don't understand why people, who can apparently afford a Nissan GTR, would consider a Toyota 86 when there are vastly superior choices available.

With diving gear for instance, I started on the budget stuff but since have invested in higher quality gear and would never consider going back to the bargain basement kit. Both allow me to be underwater but one does it so much better in every single way that it ultimately creates a whole new, better experience.

Its not always about how expensive or how fast the car is. Its how much you could enjoy the car when you drive it. In fact, I also own a 08 Cayman S and a lot of other cars that is better than the 86 or even the GTR.

For the GTR, I hate driving it in HK. The GR6 is not the best transmission for slow driving, and in HK the GTR is just over power and the car is massive. my GTR doesn't even fit the parking space at my office in HK! I have to park on the street and take the risk of a illegal parking ticket every time I drive that to work.

I usually just drive the GTR when I have to take long journeys (ie travel to my china office where there are long stretch of highways with no speed cameras)

The 86 is the latest and probably one of the most iconic car for 2012. It might not be the fastest, but I'm sure it will be very fun to drive for A-B travel and still practical enough.

Sounds fishy. I know SE Asia country charge high import tax, but can be more than 300% Vietnamese import tax? No that I don't trust you GT86 can be up to 80K, but I don't trust any word from anyone saying it's going to be 140K in SG.

I won't be surprised if the GT86 gonna cost 140k here in SG. Bcos the current price of an RX8 here is 135k

Here's the proof : http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/ne...?CarCode=10586

I checked with Crown motors today.
They take deposit and it is even refundable. No need to select color or option yet.
Expect delivery around mid 2012 according to sales person.

RX8 is 27K here in the US. RX8 is supposed to be more expensive than 86. Even Miata is 23K for 5 speed base.

Miata & MX5 are the same? Cos it's called MX5 here in SG.

Here in SG, the MX5 costs more than an RX8. Price of a MX5 here is 148k.

I said 23K for 5spd base model. What I see in your link is 6 speed auto convertible hardtop which is starting at $28,350 here in the US. It's more expensive than base RX8.

Edit: Auto Rx-8 is starting at 26,795. The one from your link is Touring model which starts at $32,960 here in the US. I see more standard features on the one in the your link too.
RX-8 touring base is almost 33K, which is 10K more(estimated) than FR-S in the US.
