UPDATE: Broken axel not diff.

They are calling in a field rep because "the car is lowered and overall vehicle condition is low" LOL. So I've got a feeling they are gonna try to deny the warranty claim.

Damn, that sucks. At least axles are cheaper to replace than diffs if they do deny your claim.

Way way way cheaper.

At this point I just hope they can fix it before the weekend! Two day autoX and I really don't want to beg anyone to drive their car. lol. Plus I wanted to "send off" my RS-3s this weekend so I can order some ZIIs. I wanna see what all of the fuss is about. Going up to 255/40/17 as well! (245 currently)

lol hardcore. It does sound like an attempt to deny it, but I'm curious how you've broken an axle and no-one else that hits their car as hard as you do as had that same issue. I wonder if you had a one-off.

It's happened to 2 other people that autoX on this board. Honestly this is a pretty common failure on cars in general. They make the axels the weak point so that when something does fail it's the cheapest/easiest to replace. NOT the ring/pinion or other hard to get to and expensive parts. Axel should be around $100 and I'd be surprised if it takes more than 2 hours (3 billed). This is a mid triple digit repair. Diff/Ring/pinion is a SOLID 4 digit repair.

Very true. I didn't know others were destroying axles either. I don't frequent the auto x threads as often as you do. Where is the autox this weekend?

Marina. At least I'll get time to get the car squared before the August event at Crows Landing in the BIG valley. 90+ second courses and 70-80MPH speeds. It's on par with the National Pro Solo Tour.

I'm not gonna fight it. I have zero ground to stand on. Lets face it i beat the shit outa the and you can tell just buy looking at it its been used in competition. The field rep did my a favor by reporting the voided reason as "lowered" and not "competition" It's gonna run me about $700 with parts, labor, tax and overnight shipping on the axel.

Someone wise once told me you can't race cars if you don't have cash!

I'm just happy there a really good chance ill be able to race this weekend. When I posted this on the bay area autoX forum I had a few people offer me co-drives in some cool cars but I'd rather save my favors!!!

The best way to make a small fortune in racing is to start with a large one.
