And so it begins.... (pic heavy)

After being a member of this forum for a long while and trying to satiate my desire for the twins by living vicariously through you guys and modeling an FR-S in Maya, I finally traded in my old car and rolled home with a Whiteout FR-S last night. I drove straight home with it as it was raining pretty hard and I didn't want to stay out with all of the asshats when I wasn't as familiar with the car as I would like.

I stayed up until 2 AM washing, waxing, etc. I tried to get some sleep but it was fitful at best so I got up this morning to finally take her for a real spin. I happened to capture it with my GoPro for posterity. I was practicing Heel/Toe and found it to be much easier in this car than I expected and it just got smoother as the day progressed.

Then I took off driving. I just pointed the car and went. Eight hours later I have over 400 miles on the odometer and a grin that won't leave my face. While I was out I took lots of pictures in various places that I stopped.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Shawn Thompson and the rest of the guys at AutoNation Toyota on University in Orlando (well, Winter Park). AutoNation took over this dealership two months ago and I was less than pleased with the previous dealer on many occasions which is why I didn't buy there before. Amin (the Sales Manager) and I got into a rather heated discussion about what the Twins come with from the factory versus dealer installed add-ons. They didn't have the car that I was initially offered so after some back and forth they had one brought in from the other side of the state that had what I wanted (which was a bone stock Whiteout). Tony in finance was so easy to work with that I was waiting for the "gotcha" that never came. He even threw in a free dealer installed and warrantied tint job (who am I to turn down a freebie) In the end I walked out with an awesome deal, they got the sale, and we shook hands after a game well-played. I rarely recommend dealers (as I have had such back luck with so many) but if you are in Central Florida looking for an FR-S, I would suggest that you pay Shawn a visit.

Now, I just need to schedule a visit with RevWorks or TitanMotorsports to get some springs installed and get the order from some Gold Rota Grids going. And so it begins...

Yeah, I have foam door insulation on the back of the plate in quite a few places so that the plate isn't in direct contact with the paint.

It is one fo the Florida Charitable license plates that was on my Lexus that I traded in. My wife and I both worked on the Space Shuttle team and I was standing on the old Saturn V display platform when Columbia went up for the last time and never came home. This is just one of those little reminders of what we, as a people, can do and the sacrifices that are sometimes made to do it. (Sorry, I get a little teary eyed when I talk about it)

Here's some pics of me inside the orbiter Endeavor hence, my username.

wait a minute, you washed and waxed in a few hours? It takes me all day to do that.

That space age stuff is pretty cool too.

Nice looking car. Glad you're enjoying it! I think we all been there with the 10 hours of wash, beer, wax, beer and enjoy the fruits of your labor. It's like a stripper almost. Look, but can't touch.

I normally make it an all day affair when cleaning the cars or motorcycles but I new that if I was going to survive driving all day I needed to (try to) get some sleep. Also, just using the garage lights wasn't as nice as having natural light to see all the nooks and crannies. Now, if it would just stop raining every afternoon and getting the car dirty... I have only quick detailed the car five times so far and I have only had her for 3 days. *grrr*

I'm not familiar with what part of Orlando has that kind of city architecture. Were those pics taken during your road trip? St. Augustine? Movie lot in Disney/Universal?
