Anyone else wonder how the magic turbo works without an up pipe? Who would pay for forged internals then run a Frankenstein header with welded pipes for up and down pipes?

P&L and JDL have catted headers that make power... Now, will we see better stuff down the road? Probably... are shops and independant tuners in some conspiracy to steal your money? Im going to say no

Is this due to heat from FI?

one last "quick" post here, and I hope it will put that to rest. Some headers might not make great power, but to say they all don't in a blanket statement is false.

The red line shows the gains on the stock tune over the full exhaust with only a header added (my original baseline pre exhaust the blue line below).

IMO the main thing is to get rid of the torque dip which not all headers do this, and to make power/TQ across the entire power band.

Pretty much what I have been saying all along,....In my personal opinion,...(for what its worth) I would wait on a header, as I said before in one instance it actually lost power,...no one here has made an all inclusive statement that all aftermarket headers are all bad,....that's freaking ridiculous. Development an R and D takes time,....this is a new platform,...seems to me some products are being rushed to market before their time.....I will most probably go with something once more proven results come around and with a product I believe in. Some mods are pretty much cut and dry, FI you make more power,...lighter wheels or driveshaft you have less rotational mass to overcome,....lighter pulleys or flywheel you rev faster,.....Headers aren't that simple and not worth it for 6 to 10hp gain.

Just unrelated and not an attack to you, but why do you write something and then .....?

Not sure exactly what your getting at,.... what drove me to post was helping an acquaintance and shop to troubleshoot with my take off OEM parts why a FRS was way below baseline on a Dyno and it ended up being his aftermarket headerback system....as many will probably agree,....as I do now....its probably best if I keep my build and opinions to myself as there seems to be alot of unfriendly punks on here.....no offense taken by you though....BTW have spent some time in Adelaide,...love your Country and its people.

The only headers that seem suspect and not worth the metal they're made from are borla and maybe hks...

Still trying to figure out how you ran a turbo with the stock headers....

Wasn't trying to be a ****. I tend to respond in turn to statements rather than being overly nice to attacks.

The Accelerated Performance kit retains the stock header and forward cat ( or the first few did,not sure he might have dumped this concept),...well my cat didn't like this set up and came apart, we retained but gutted the stock cat and upgraded the turbine wheel to a gtxwheel after it was destroyed. The car is silly fast. I went forged and lower compression on E85 for engine longevity specifically, not for any other reason, it will see hard track use when I'm done.

I can't imagine why anyone thought a cat before the turbo would be ok long term. Is this being done on any type of large scale with good results these days? Didn't Subaru have a problem on one of their SUVs that are built this way from the factory?

Still not seeing how you would add in an up pipe and downpipe into the stock design and have it work well...

I agree that a turbo is the easiest way to make power... I highly doubt it's smooth or as easy to handle on the track as a s/c or na car though.
