LOL. After all the cosmetic problems I'm having w/ the car. I'm making myself not to do so much cosmetic care because I think the more I care the worse happens.

Never been. But it's supposed to be a pretty cool event. Maybe next year, cuz I'm still broke from vegas. Lol

Shot in the dark but next weekend or so, I'm replacing my diff/tranny to Motul 300 75w90. Any wrench parties interested, let me know. That said, I can provide the tools, garage, ramps, jacks, etc.

Then I spoke to LPI Racing (Livermore race shop) to provide the Motul. They can generously provide the Motul for a few dollars lesser and available next week.

Then I spoke to Dublin Toyota and ordered 4 crush washers. The crush washers [strongly] recommend are ~$2 each for the differential (x2) and ~$12 each for the tranny (x2). 3 of 4 of the washers are special order - why not in stock or the ~$12 hike...because racecar. No, because $28 in crush washers are a lot cheaper than a potential leaking tranny/diff.

While I'm down there, I would change the oil too but I have my 7500-mile maintenance coming up very soon. So I will skip the oil change (hehe 2 oil changes BEFORE this 7500).
If you haven't paid yet, go to Subaru for the washers. I bet they are cheaper and may even be in stock. Toyota is still screwing us with that crap.

I didn't replace any of the crush washers and I'm not leaking at all. I know this becuase I park on a nice clean concrete driveway everyday. BUT I will pick these up from the Subi dealer for next time. I'm already at 32K and from here on out I am going to do the tranny/diff every other oil change.

Also get all parts from Subi dealer. WAY WAY WAY cheaper.

I think the parts are so much more at Toyota because they are all manufactured by Fuji (Subaru).

Unless you track your car it's crazy overkill.

It says though that it is for occasional track use with a comfort of street use?

How occasional is occasional? I'd say it's still mild overkill. There's no doubt expensive dampers ride well too though...

+1

Ohlins are for serious track folks that want to still DD their cars or drive them on the streets without being punched in the kidneys.

I'd still aim for a more premium coilover in the 1700+ range. I have almost 5k miles on my RSR's now, and they're perfect for occasional track use and at the softest setting they are fine for street use. Something in that range is likely a better choice than the $999 and SUPER RACE $3k+ ranges. You end up with better quality, and don't break the bank over an investment you might not get the most out of.

If you're going to do 5+ HPDEs and a few AutoXs a year I'd say go Ohlins.

If I could afford Ohlins I'd get them, but I also autoX 25+ times a year. Even said that in reality KW V3s are enough for me.

Oh, also Strano FSB is the best bang for buck mod I've done to my car so far! More front and rear end grip! Even more grip under braking!

So it was worth the 3 hour install?
