I say either go to a professional shop and have a proper box built, or buy something that is made for the car like the JL Stealthbox:

That's a box for a single 10". Width can be an issue (that's what she said). In the center of the trunk, there is a small gap above the box, but when I push it all the way to the passenger side, snugged up against the rear seat, the top is a squeeze, due to the bracing above the trunk having a bit of an arc to it. So the extreme ends are lower than the middle by a small bit. For me, this helps keep the box in place, with my tool bag next to it. Bag has mega velcro, so it won't budge, and the car can't accelerate hard enough to push the sub back to the rear anyway. This is all just to tide me over until I build something similar to what Brian posted.

Thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard.... a bigger box is more efficient and will drop lower and get louder with less power. Not everyone cares about trunk space.

You, sir are an idiot. I said bigger is not always better, and you have to re-emphasize on the word "louder". A subwoofer's functionality and performance is not measured solely on loudness.

I did a pro-install as well - 2 JL 8 in. I have enough trunk space to fit a gym bag left, which works just fine as I get a rental if I'm taking a trip. There is a thread of mine in the audio section. Sounds amazing with an upgraded HU!
