I never do anything for my birthday it's so bad that I now make up stories if anyone asks so they don't feel bad.
I really want to go to Vegas for my birthday but none of my friends have money of their own. Only parent money so I highly doubt the units would pay for their trip :/

Best solution is to either a. get new friends or b. stop caring about external factors and make your own birthday something unforgettable regardless of others.

Yeah I don't really care enough about the day to really make plans and do something about it - its just this weird social holiday that I Feel like I have to celebrate??
I can't wrap my head around why some girls make it into this big thing? But than at the same time question if maybe I should try to as well?
Eh w.e I'm just talking in circles.

Tl;Dr: I have a very low key life and well if I wanna do something fun I won't wait till bday

Believe me, i share the same sentiment regarding my own birthday, i believe the core of it is that we have a distinct understanding of humility and lack of an ego-centric lifestyle, both admirable traits. Ive no need to exert myself in that way and certainly dont need to feel "special" on any particular day of the year. Similarly, i can't hate on those that do need that kind of attention in their lives.

Now if only I could get the bf to understand this pov better that would be great! He gets depressed that he isn't with a bunch of people, and my response is what's wrong with only having a handful and doing something simple?... Some people just like big parties I guess.
And he was also making a stink that his brother got him something small and stupid when he gets him expensive gifts.
How can I respond without sounding mean - you do not need gifts on your birthday. It's this culture requirement that you do. And whatever happened to 'its the thought that counts'

*shrugs* my opinion, if you wanna buy someone something do it at random, don't do it because that bday makes you feel obligated to.

That was scary spot on.
..I need to push him to be more confident, than maybe the other stuff will improve as well.
He's a store manager (which in my eyes) is a real job, but he works for a shitty company so I'm guessing only makes 30k and thus feels like shit.
He doesn't understand that he's capable of making at least 50...Hell my cousin is making more as a store manager for Kate spade (I think that's the name) than she did as DM for a different company.
But to reiterate what I said before I think his overall happiness in life would improve so much if he would just be confident.

Birthdays huh?

The one birthday that was a milestone was one I didn't do anything spectacular. I spent my 21st b-day on the beach since I was on vacation. A month later I celebrated it with my ex cause they thought that was blasphemy to not have a crazy wild blackout party. Overall it didn't matter to me to have a wild party, it meant more to me to spend it with family and friends that mattered the most.

heh, my 18th bday I spend doped out of my mind (wisdom teeth removal) and my 21st I went with my mom to a Chinese restaurant, and ordered a beer legally. I don't even like beer! lol
