Build date is Sept 2012 (BRZ). Chirping started after 2-3k miles. Just replaced HPFP under the revised TSB 2 weeks ago. No more crickets as of now.

FYI, local suby dealer initially declined to replace the HPFP pump, citing that my car is 'not in the mfg range' and tech said it is normal for HPFP. When i brought up the TSB#, they then said 'we are not replacing the pump, just the plunger' and that my TSB may not be the newest one. I said fine, just replace the plunger then and make it work, knowing that they are just trying to dissuade me from proceeding. The work order after I collected the car listed all the same parts per the TSB. This is also the same dealer who replaced two rear arm bushings to fix the 'clicking' noise from the trunk, AFTER I gave them a copy of the TSB to just apply lube since I have there car there during an on oil change. When I called them to question this as the noise was still present with the new bushings, service tech told me that the TSB I provided may not apply to all BRZs and the noise must be from the bushings. Stopped by Autozone on way home and bought some Si Lube and fixed the problem in 5 mins myself. I wonder if this is greed, or sheer ignorance. Also wonder if they actually replaced the bushings at all. Would not go back again but the other suby dealer is more than 30-40 miles away.

Just got back from the dealer and got a new HPFP on order after mine chirped like a mofo the whole way to IL and back this past weekend.

Service rep also said there was a new/updated Toyota TSB for it.

Now the wait for the part as he also said that was on back order >_<.

Wrong one, that goes inside the fuel tank. It's not the HPFP.

I've had mine on order since.. Try November. My dealer is the largest one in my region. They know the HPFP isn't making the chirp. So they haven't been wasting anyones time and their own time by replacing anyones.

Took mine in today. I don't have high hopes. Even if the sound goes down a little it's a win until there is a better fix.

I have just under 300 miles, and I'm hearing the crickets at idle. Build date 05/13. I didn't notice it at first because I usually always have my radio up. It doesn't really seem loud enough to really bother me unless I'm against a wall (drive-thru/garage/etc), but it is annoying. I'm used to injector noise from DI engines, but this is kind of ridiculous.

There are people reporting that even after the green dot pump is installed, the cricket still comes back.

If Subaru/Toyota still don't have a real fix as of now, then that means the 2014 models will have crickets too, lol.

If you take it back to the dealer make sure to post what they tell you. I know mine was built sometime in early 2013 and they told me that my VIN wasn't included in the recall so there's nothing they can do except tell Toyota about it.

Ah, thanks. So there is not an aftermarket pump available? Seems to me somebody could sell a boatload of them. Maybe the answer is if you have crickets, run that sucker until failure if you are still under warranty. A few dozen dead engin claims might get some attention.

Yeah, there's no aftermarket one yet. I figured the same thing that a company would make a killing off aftermarket pumps, but no one has done it. I'll probably run my first pump to death until Toyota comes out with a real fix and changes the pump part and not just "revise" it.

I have the feeling I would get the same response. I think I'm going to wait a while and see if anything new comes out, or at least get the car past the break-in period/1st service so they can't say it's not broken in either.
