My car was delivered may 8th 2012 and the only problem Ive had was the tail lights...and my aftermarket tails fixed that while lookin much better. Dropped a new stereo and I'm good. Don't get me wrong it prefer not to have plastic that's easy to scratch inside my car but it doesn't all rattle and nothing is out o place. Everything is flush. No crickets and such. Maybe I'm just lucky lol or they had better quality control for the first86ers

Check out the 2014 Mazda Cx5. I traded my Audi s4 with intention of getting brz for a weekend car. I am impressed by the space and power the cx5 makes. Fun to drive as well

I also don't feel quite comfortable with the shifting the FR-S yet either, especially first to second, granted though I have only been driving stick for 8 months. I find the FR-S gearbox is much more sensitive to my inputs and gives a lot of feedback in the form of clunking and jerkiness when my technique and timing isn't at its best. The FR-S is a sports car though the shifter feels completely different and much better at higher RPMs. |

Very similar to your story. Sold my Bimmer Roadster when I heard about the twins. Went out and bought a interim car, which was a new Acura TL SHAWD. Had that car 9 months and sold it thinking the BRZ would get here sometime in April of '12. Well the BRZ didn't arrive till the end of July of '12 so I had to rent and borrow a car for a few months till the BRZ arrived. Was it worth it? YES! Enjoy your new ride. :happy0180:

Reading this thread really reinforces my opinion that learning to drive with a manual transmission gives one a better understanding on how a car works. I bought a 2011 Honda Civic Si without having owned a MT previously and stalled it on the first light out of the dealership; I quickly learned what to do and what NOT to do. I'd like to say it made me much more aware of both my driving and what's around me when I drive.
I think the clutch is relatively light and while I don't have the depth of experience as others on this forum, I imagine that the FT86 twins are relatively easy to learn and drive with a MT. |
