So I want the awesome sound of my boxer engine (really aggressive exhaust note) but only some of the time. Porsche offers a sport exhaust system which means you can push a button and baffles open up and let the engine sing and when you need to keep quiet just push the button again. I want an active exhaust system in my brz, anyone have any information about this? What to avoid etc. My exhaust shop said they would weld something onto the midpipe and have an audio shop wire it up so it looks clean.

As an update, I am planning to have this installed http://www.dmhperformance.com/
Does anyone have any experience with these? They've only been making this particular brand for four years, but they include a four year warranty. Below is a video of another type as well.

Because it is easy to miss, posting here to warn people against HKS exhaust systems until the company is willing to address their manufacturing problems.

it seems that most are looking for the sound, some - for the gains, but there are also folks who would want to get the weight down. if it's not too much to ask, could these posts be updated by people with the hp/tq gains and weight of the system? pls

My local exhaust shop said the stock muffler acts as a rear air diffuser, does anyone agree? My flight instructor agrees with them. When I had a cat back system on I lost about three miles per gallon on the high way and increased drag may explain that (the aftermarket muffler was a lot smaller than stock).

i was bored and put up a quick list of most popular dual exit cat-back exhausts along with whatever data I could find. not all the data is 100% reliable though as I pulled bits and pieces from all around the web. the list is editable though so anyone can update it. please do if you have more reliable data from manufacturers or specs provided by them.

Stock is 2.11" not 2.5". I've personally measured the diameter and its tiny.

Seems like a good Cat back system. Most of the power gains are after 4500 RPM.
Price: $523.15 or less.
Looks like a not to bad DIY system.

The Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are amazing new performance cars jointly developed by both automakers, and deserve to sound the part. This all stainless steel American Thunder system delivers the sound you want with the performance you demand from Flowmaster. Featuring mandrel bent piping throughout, this 50 state emissions legal system is a true bolt on, and delivers a deep performance tone most enthusiasts will enjoy. The American made exhaust also includes Flowmaster's lifetime limited warranty for a lifetime of quality assurance.

✓ Stainless steel construction
✓ Dyno tuned for maximum performance
✓ Refined performance tone
✓ Made in the USA
✓ Premium Flowmaster quality

I Love the sound of the flowmaster in vids, but do not know how loud it is for real.
Seems like everybody loves Perrin
