Sound? It's loud without a sound generator. Above 4k RPM it is really loud if you're flooring it. It's civil below that for daily driving but you can still hear it a bit. Anyone with a Perrin CAI + Inlet will vouch for that. The intake by itself will probably net you 3-5 whp without a tune and the pulley isn't so much for horsepower as it is throttle response. Feels a lot smoother with revs and shifts with the pulley.

A tune will take this intake even further as it does with most intakes. The reason I chose this one is because of the design of it not being inside the warm hood. Pulls cold air from the bumper directly and seems the best designed for a warm climate area.

^ Agree with FRS Matt about the TRUE CAI systems..
I chose the vigilant motorsports one over the FA20ClubCAI, as it is a little more aesthetic IMO. Also, unlike perrin it is a dry filter, so no oiling needed

I went with the Takeda. I'm still waiting on my tune for it, but even without a tune it feels like I have a bit more power and it has a great sound to it that really comes out above 5K RPM.

I have the trd. My before/after of the trd showed an 7.2whp gain (I had the trd exhaust on for both, however)

EDIT: Dyno Sheet to prove it. Its in the TRD CAI thread

Just get a drop in and inlet tube and save yourself some money. Stock air box pulls from the front bumper anyways.

Lol.... There was a nasty thread about this a while back. Many, for some reason, don't think it is a "true" cold air intake because the filter is not behind the bumper. For some reason people think that the filter will be heat soaked despite the fact that the air is taken from the same place in all the intakes listed above (minus the injen, which you shouldn't buy). We even have a dyno sheet to prove it works.

As to the OP, I have a trd intake and like it. With the small issues that are popping up with our cars I think it is a good choice as it is dealer friendly. I, personally, would steer clear of any system that requires you to remove the bumper for install and service. It is easy to pull the bumper but you will always run the risk of messing up the paint, breaking a popper, etc.

In the end it seems all these set ups perform similarly when the car is tuned. Perhaps an inlet, a drop in, and a tune is the best bang for your buck in this case.

My 2 cents.

This thread would be better if you made it a poll.
