Adding satellite radio to base pioneer system? (FR-S)
I have a 2013 FR-s that I'm interested in adding SiriusXM satellite radio to. What would I need to install to get satellite radio?
I came across this on trdsparks: http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=5109 Is that all I would need? And is it easy to self-install or would getting it installed at a shop or dealership be recommended? |

The vais unit will attach to a standard sxv-200 or possibly a 300. I did it with a 200, and the 300 has the same interface I believe.
As far as difficulty, depending on where you put the antenna, about 30min - 2h of work Edit : I didn't really read the TRD sparks page, looking like it has the sx adapter too, so yes.. That's all you need

It's not easy, because the plug is proprietary, and won't fit the standard SiriusXM tuner plug and play kits. I investigated this option thoroughly when I bought my car, and found it was going to cost about $200 in parts, plus finding someone to install it for me, and I decided not to bother. I wish I had pulled out my aftermarket Sirius tuner from my xB before I traded it in, because it would have worked, but that part is now discontinued.
Apparently satellite radio is a dying breed and isn't super popular anymore. I had it for years and liked it - I wish it was built in.
